Obama reverses on releasing photos
As Democrats appear to be feeling the limits of national security politics, President Obama has reversed course and will object to the court-ordered release of photos depicting the abuse of detainees.
An official explains, on background:
Last week, the President met with his legal team and told them that he did not feel comfortable with the release of the DOD photos because he believes their release would endanger our troops, and because he believes that the national security implications of such a release have not been fully presented to the court.
At the end of that meeting, the President directed his counsel to object to the immediate release of the photos on those grounds.
Yesterday, during a meeting at the White House, the President raised the issue of these photos with General Odierno and told him of his decision to argue against this release.
Through his actions from the first days of his administration, the President has made it clear that the United States will hold itself and all the men and women who serve our country to the highest standards of conduct.
The President would be the last to excuse the actions depicted in these photos. That is why the Department of Defense investigated these cases, and why individuals have been punished through prison sentences, discharges, and a range of other punitive measures. But the President strongly believes that the release of these photos, particularly at this time, would only serve the purpose of inflaming the theaters of war, jeopardizing US forces, and making our job more difficult in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.
Score 1 for Cheney!
This Torture Pix reversal along with the fight between BO vs Pelosi vs CIA vs Hoyer vs etc., etc...proves that this wagon train of Leftist Rats has thrown some wheels and is about to be ambushed big time. Maybe even the Pubs will get in on the attack, if they don’t have to take any hits.
I say just sit back and pass the popcorn. The O-man is really firing up his base, and not in the way he had planned.
It finally dawned on Obama that he would be held responsible for any American deaths and injuries resulting from release of the photos. Our troops in the field, our embassies and consulates, US businesses abroad, amerrican tourists, etc. could well become targets. And Obama would have a hard time blaming this on Bush. When the rubber meets the road, Obama doesnt want to held responsible for anything.
This article makes it sound like Bush did nothing to stop abuses...and somehow magically Zero discovered abuses, prosecuted ill-behaving troops and put them in the slammer - all in three months.
Oh wait...THAT WAS THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION
Bump that!
Why in the hell did this marxist empty suit even open this pandora’s box to begin with? What a fool.
Good things happen when conservatives speak truth to power.
I guess I disagree with most here, I want to see the pictures.
check out DU, if you can stand the stench, look at the comments about the zero now. hahahahah. they are on the verge of bleeding out through their eyes, teeth popping like popcorn,, its hilarious.
Whoops (blush) this time for sure. Additional:

Funny how they forgot to mention that the bad apples were punished, discharged, or reprimanded by the Bush administration BEFORE even the first photo was leaked to the media.
Over at the DUmmies board, they’re absolutely livid about this!
SIAP but the only reason he is not releasing the photos is because of Pelosi.
He wants it to go away as fast as possible to protect her. If they were to show the pictures it would give more weight to what she knew and when she knew it and why she lied about it.
