She knew from the beginning. According to a CIA memorandum summarizing briefings to Congress on the use of enhanced interrogation techniques on terrorist detainees, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca) knew from the very beginning that those techniques -- including waterboarding -- were being used on September 2, 2002.
According to the memo the very first briefing listed is 9/4/02 with then Rep. Porter Goss & Pelosi. The summary of the briefing says:
“Briefing on EITs including use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background on authorities, and a description of the particular EITs that had been employed.”
This directly contradicts Pelosi’s story, that “we were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used.”
As HUMAN EVENTS reported earlier, Pelosi - by objecting to the use of the enhanced interrogation techniques - could have stopped them but didn't.
Pelosi's misstatements were apparently intended to divert attention from her and other Democrats in Congress who knew of all the enhanced interrogation methods -- in detail -- apparently as soon as they were being used.

I am SO tired of bald-faced lies being rebranded as “misstatements.” The rebranding of the lie is a lie itself. Of course she didn’t inadvertently or accidentally say something that she didn’t mean. She meant what she said and said what she meant, and she was fully aware that it was a LIE.

Pelosi knew and approved of the innterrogation regime , before this newly created political correctness campaign initiative lead by Obama and Holder.
On the question of torture itself as it is related to politics, Obama knew of Odinga's work in the Orange party in which opposition to Odinga was subjected to genocidal attacks and torture, YET Obama as a candidate for the presidency remained silent on that fact.
Now as pesident he has seen the light on torture? Nah! Obama doesn't hae any moral compunction about the use of torture, or else he would not have hung with Odinga in 2006/2007
This is Obamas way to dismantle a CIA intelligence gathering program that was TOO effective against terrorists. And in doinng so he meddles in CIA operations, micromanaging heir efforts. The CIA will leak more information about the involvement of holder and others in former rendition and torture regimes of the rendered country,
This ant-torture initiative is designed to keep the CIA from being able to compose a full bodied, timely accurate report on new terrorist threats
And next Obama will declare " there is no longer a terrorist threat. Its over."
