those darn tectonic plates will they not ever stop acting out?
I think you mean "swishing."
Also did not feel it on a balcony structure in Surf City.
A nice red square inside the blue one on the map at post #61...
Nite!
Felt nothing in Santa Clarita.
Thank you bd476 for the info and the ping.
It will be interesting to see how many more after shocks happen in the next few days.
No your wrong.
Rats and coachroaches thrive down to eating the flesh of the last Human.
Perservere.
Bingo! Good answer. After the 7.2 Santa Cruz quake in ‘89, I thought, if this isn’t the epicenter, then San Fran doesn’t exist any more. As it turned out, I was a half mile from the epicenter.

Up here in wino country, we used to feel the same way about these minor shakers, then “An example of a damaging quake on a previously unknown fault occurred on September 3, 2000, in Yountville (Napa County). This magnitude 5.2 quake struck at 1:36 a.m., 10 miles northwest of Napa. It injured 25 people, caused at least $10 million in damage, and forced 70 people to seek shelter at Red Cross facilities.”
Apparently this fault line was in the bedrock under eons of soil from former floods and it caused problems as the quake ran from NW to SE and S.
A helicopter pilot said that he could see the earth heaving up and moving like a wave down the valley.
Another interesting event for some of was seeing electrical blue flashes above the ground as the quake rolled through. It was dry as usual and apparently the quake built up electrical charges as it moved alone.
About 50% of us saw the blue flashes. Relatives, friends and strangers basically in the same area didn’t see the flashes.
My trophy wife thought that something hit my head during the quake when I talked about the blue flash. The next day about half our neighbors saw the flash and the rest didn’t.
A couple, good friends, about 5 miles west of us had the same result. He didn’t see the flash and she did.
He musta had real good eyes to see that in the middle of the night.
His search light lit things up to see the movement better.
Have one hit Philthadelphia........
That works for me (I am on the west coast of PA).

A yell and a cheer rose up from the Crown & Anchor Pub in Thousand Oaks Friday evening as a sharp 4.4 magnitude earthquake rolled through minutes after 6 p.m.
It definitely got everyones attention, Russ Parkes, whose family owns the British restaurant and pub on East Thousand Oaks Boulevard, said minutes after the temblor struck.
The quake shook the large bay window along the front of the restaurant and the neon sign hanging in it, Parkes said.
At Jacks Restaurant & Deli, about a mile away on South Westlake Boulevard in Westlake Village, it was a similar story.
The bottles started shaking at the bar and it took a second or two for everyone to realize we were having an earthquake, said Alexxis Ames, a hostess at the restaurant.
The quake struck at 6:11 p.m. and was centered in the Santa Monica Mountains around Westlake Village, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
It came as tens of thousands were making their way home from work. No major injuries or damage were immediately reported.
Weve gotten some phone calls mostly from people who want to know more about what happened, said Capt. Patti Salas of the Ventura County Sheriffs Department.
The earthquake felt like a sharp strong jolt at the Westlake Village Inn on Agoura Road, said Jennifer Griega, who worked at the front desk.
Griega said some of inns guests called the front desk to confirm that what theyd felt was in fact an earthquake instead of some other disaster.
This being California, none of them were surprised to learn it was an earthquake, Griega said.
The quake was felt as far north as Lancaster in the Mojave Desert to southern Orange County, according to online resident reports gathered by the USGS.
Kerstin Edwards, who lives a few miles from the quakes epicenter in Westlake Village, said she felt the temblor while she was upstairs in her house. She noticed no damage.
It started off as a strong jolt, Edwards said. Its definitely one of the bigger ones Ive felt. At the Bellavino Wine Bar in Westlake Village, owner Richard Belloff said a couple people attending a dinner party reported feeling the quake but several others didnt notice. Everyone is drinking and partying, and we didnt see the glasses move or anything, Belloff said.
