There is a video up on Powerline that should be of interest to readers of American Thinker.
Dick Cheneys daughter, Liz, gives MSNBCs Norah ODonnell a lesson in reporting and debating.
Notice how Liz Cheney (who worked as an assistant deputy secretary of state under W) refuses to accept the premise of several of the questions. ODonnell is clearly trying to trap Cheney with When did you stop beating your husband? logic. But Cheney isnt biting.
The purported topic is whether or not Dick Cheney and Condolezza Rice authorized torture. But Cheney doesnt buy in to the false assumption.
The moderator, in this case ODonnell, has a huge advantage in these discussions. The moderator controls the topic. (Notice how ODonnell stops Cheney from speaking when Norah insists that a full screen quote be displayed. As I have pointed out, this is a standard gottcha tactic used when conservatives are speaking on national television.)
Republicans (especially debate novices like Sarah Palin) could learn much from watching this interview.
I distinctly remember during the Republican presidential primary debates when the Republican candidates were asked to raise their hands if they believed in man made global warming. Like good little first graders, all but one did. Watch the video carefully. Fred Thompson stopped the nonsense.
At that moment I knew what a sorry pack of losers made up the leadership of the Republican Party.
If the Republican Party wants a real debater in a leadership position
it should take a long, hard look at Liz Cheney.

Great responses by Liz. She knew her stuff, wouldn’t let Norah get by with shilly stuff and brought her down a peg. I hope she stays up front in this!
OK,OK.
PALIN/CHENEY 2012
Of if you’d rather:
CHENEY/PALIN 2012.
Either one works for me.
Hell, I’d vote for Paula Abdul/Paris Hilton 2012 if it would get the current occupants out of the WH.
Yep, and Norah knew she was being taken to the woodshed.
I happened to watch this interview and as much as I think Norah is one hell of a good looking gal, it was fun watching her grit her teeth. She knew she had lost and didn’t like it one bit.
Disappointed on Norah. She knows better.
I like Sarah Palin, but she has things she needs to work on. For the sake of the country, I hope she is the competitor I believe her to be and works on her weaknesses.
Nora was determined to have it her way, but Liz overpowered her with facts, FACTS.
And I well remember Lynn Cheney asking Wolfe Blitzed.....don’t you want America to win in Iraq????
The left is in for a rude awakening if they take on the Cheney family.
People appear to have conflated that Couric interview with the actual debates. She performed well in the debates, hence my annoyance at the “novice” reference.
Great, Liz does a boffo performance, and I get her name wrong [slapping myself--thwack!]].
Sarah/Liz. Now that's gotta give the libs an aneurysm!
I thought she did well having been thrown into the national meat grinder the way she was, but now she knows what to expect, how the game is played and where her weaknesses are. I fully expect her to be much improved and very formidable should she chose to enter the ring for 2012.
Wow.
She’s as impressive as her Mom and Dad.
And maybe even more so.
A tremendous debater which is only a small part of her skill set.
Very, very impressive.
She did a great job keeping her cool. O’Donnell was so annoying, I’m surprised Cheney didn’t succumb. She’s a better woman than me.
