"Nobody in this country realizes that cap-and-trade is a tax -- and it's a great big one," Rep. John Dingell (D-Michigan) said Friday.

The Obama version involves a huge tax grab; because the government would charge for the emission credits. It doesn't have to be that way — but, the tax grab is obviously what Obama really wants.
“Poor people will get energy vouchers to cover the energy bills. this is another redistribution scheme.”
They will have no incentive to conserve since you will be paying their bill.
Cap and trade will never pass. Too many dem congressmen and senators have to face their electorate next year.
Meaning, they would be bought and sold among producers.
Thats a cost that gets passed to the rate payer, and its an opportunity for financial mischief that will make Oil for Food look like a kid's piggy bank, just like Oil for Food made Enron look like a kid's piggy bank.
This is kind of funny. I wonder how Dingle voted regarding taxes in the past?
its a very big tax. the poor and middle class are going to be hardest hit
A Democrat said this? Maybe there is HOPE. Or maybe some Dems are already fearing the CHANGE Congress will see after the next election.
Regardless it will have a huge economic impact because companies have to comply with the number of credits they are given and doing so will be VERY expensive even if the government gives them away. It is just a shell game.
He never said he was against it and he was speaking among friends. Cap and Trade is just another stupid layer of bureaucracy for companies to have to deal with and we end up paying for it big time in the end.
Yes, but GE will be the better for it.
Not really. The poor will get subsidized energy costs from the income on cap & trade. TOTUS said so in one of its speeches.
The price of everything will go up. everything
Yes it will and that’s not counting inflation to come.
It will kill me and my family. We will have to move in an apt, me go back to work and my kids will have to stay home without me which would suck, but we’d do what we would have to.This better not pass. We can’t afford it!
Roll this out during a deep economic recession... brilliant.
Dear sir.
Just wanted to make you aware that you are half correct. The sheep who voted for people like Obama and yourself are in fact unware that this is a tax that will cause our bills to increase by $1800 a year.
The rest of us are aware and we are a bit ticked off. If you would be so kind as to hold daily press conferences repeating what you said here, I would have the ability to respect at least one elected democrat.
No they won't but it doesn't seem to matter to the current management team.
If we really believed that carbon was a problem, and if we really wanted to do something about it, the answer is to build more nukes. And then build more nukes.
