Fox News ^ | April 21, 2009 | Fox News

President Obama says it is up to the attorney general whether to prosecute Bush administration lawyers who wrote the memos approving harsh interrogation tactics.

President Obama left open the door Tuesday for charges to be brought against Bush administration lawyers who justified harsh interrogation techniques, though he continued to argue that CIA agents who used those tactics should not be prosecuted.

The president showed wiggle room on the issue as he faces calls from Democratic lawmakers and organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union to support such charges. Asked about the possibility of prosecution related to the interrogation program, the president deferred to Attorney General Eric Holder.

Can there be ANY doubt that this black racist sonuvacertifiablebitch is intent on the destruction of the Republic?

This is the first time in my adult life — I have wished for a horrible and immediate fate for a President.

If only Saddam Hussein had been smart enough to solicit a legal opinion from his government lawyers that gassing people was within the law, he might be finishing up a few rounds of golf in Dubai right now.

Didn’t water-boarding begin with Clinton? I know renditions did.

Do it. Prosecute them. This is what the American people want, this is what they voted for.

If the Republicans prefer to be like lambs to be slaughtered (politically and legally), then give them what they want.

I wish the big eared freak of nature would drop the pretense and go all out to prosecute Bush and others. With all the facts on the table we would see that $h!+ eating grin fade away real quick.

It seems like they just want to harass the lower-level officials (force them to pay horrendous amounts of money defending themselves from an out-of-control special prosecutor), while being evasive about what they intend to do to the highest officials (President Bush, Vice President Cheney, maybe a few others in the White House).

I think they would go for it if they figured it would be a political plus, but so far they aren't sure it would be. It's all about politics...and getting America-haters to love Obama. Maybe Obama thinks that somewhere down the line he can offer Bush and Cheney a pardon to avoid prison so he can be praised for his magnanimous attitude. Only thing is, none of the people they want to get would take a pardon for doing their duty keeping the country safe from another terrorist attack.

If the Islamists manage to carry out another attack on US soil it could throw all of the Obama-Emanuel-Holder plans into disarray.

Oh. Come. On. Obama is going to do no such thing. This is the guy who closes Gitmo without closing Gitmo, who pulls out of Iraq without pulling out of Iraq, and who ends rendition without ending rendition.

He just says this stuff. His adoring media tell their fellow leftists that This President has done a wonderful thing, and that's the end of that. Remember: liberals don't care about results. They only care about having good intentions. So Obama tells them he has good intentions, and the media never bother to tell the leftists that nothing happened as a result.

They will. Soon enough. And, do you think the sheeple will give a sh*t? And the Rhinos will say it’s for the sake of non-partisonship and best for the country and (you fill in the blanks)

It seems to me that if prosecution of officials of the previous administration for policy issues is now acceptable, the next administration should be able to prosecute this current one for treason for releasing confidential information about CIA policy items.

The Republicans have nutered themselves. Don’t look to them to save the country. Only Americans can save America now. We are at the cliff. One can only hope we wake up in time.

I am listening to Larry Mondelo’s daily briefing. Granted I have been away from the news most of the day, but it sounds as if the press is not taking Mondelo’s BS on this.
