Miss California Carrie Prejean is disappointed she didn't win the Miss USA pageant after her answer to question on gay marriage from blogger Perez Hilton sparked controversy, but says she's proud she stayed true to her beliefs and wouldn't change the response even though she believes it cost her the crown.
Prejean, who was first runner up, appeared Tuesday morning on NBC's "Today" show and when host Matt Lauer asked if she'd alter her answer if given a "do-over," she said no.

OBAMA: Well, to answer the original question, I would love that child and seek to support them. I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman but I detest the bashing and vilifying of gays and lesbians. Most gays and lesbians are seeking basic recognition of their rights so theyre not discriminated against in employment or renting a house, so they can see their partner in a hospital. These are rights for everybody, not just some people.
Conservatism is beautiful.
What’s the problem? she answered the question. What did they want her to do lie. Her sister is pro-gay marriage and in the military so obviously she is not a homophobe. This just seems like useless attention. Perez is trying to get more hits on his website...I bet it is working too unfortunately.
For somebody devoid of integrity like Mattie, that answer must be particularly confounding.
“but I detest the bashing and vilifying of gays and lesbians”
Which has what to do with politics? What political entity is bashing gays? Don’t you hate it when pols come out strong against things that are none of their business?
I want to see her in the octagon against Meghan McCain.
There are folks on this forum who would sacrifice their values to win an election.
She was diplomatic and classy with her answer, but honestly I would have like to have seen an answer like this to the flamer:
“Homo marriage? What kind of a sick perverted freak are you, you pillow biter”?
Of course, they would have broke to commercial, and she would have been escorted out of the studio, but I bet that within a week she could have gotten a job as a Fox News anchor babe.
This is the treatment that the Left gives someone gets when they speak honestly and openly. The gay activists have said that they wanted to live openly. Well, I guess that means that straights have to go into the gay’s once occupied closet. Sit down, shut up. I will be calling the Miss California folks to express my disgust at their response.
Her answer makes me proud that she is from my state of California.
All that talk of God probably gave Lauer the heebie-jeebie’s.
good for her and the cheers she got was very good to hear.
the idiot who asked this went on to act like a fairy and then called her a bi$$$.
so much for tolerance form the so called judge and anyway why are they having a homosexual judge women. For crying out loud that was just a stupid decision to have this idiot on
Nobody is afforded any special rights. We’re all humans and we all bleed red.
How any man could be interested in anything BUT heterosexual marriage, after seeing her picture, is beyond me.
Looking at this sideways, this is what goes on in universities. To get a good grade, or keep your scholarship, or graduate, or graduate with a good recommendation, you are expected to follow the party line.
In this case, everyone knows she didn’t get the crown because of her personal ethics and political outlook.
But this is how Mat Lauer and Katie Couric keep their jobs, by spouting the correct rhetoric and ideology on cue. This is how “jornalists” start off from college, some employer like the Glob or LATimes asking the prof, is this guy reliable? Is he a liberal we can trust?
Good for Miss California, for her integrity and for helping expose how things work.
Indeed.
Beauty, brains, and guts.
~sigh~
The trifecta.
That's, "life's lottery".
Shades of Lauren Bacall!
LAUNCH the true unbiased Miss USA elections by real american people...
She could easily win! People could send her money on the web as her winning price
