Cheney Calls for Legal Memos to be Declassified
Drudge Report ^ | April 20, 2009 | Drudge Report

Posted on 04/20/2009 1:42:26 PM PDT by RobinMasters

In a two part interview airing tonight and tomorrow night on FOX News Channel’s Hannity (9-10PM ET), former Vice President Dick Cheney shared his thoughts on the CIA memos that were recently declassified and also revealed his request to the CIA to declassify additional memos that confirm the success of the Bush administration’s interrogation tactics:

CHENEY:

“One of the things that I find a little bit disturbing about this recent disclosure is they put out the legal memos, the memos that the CIA got from the Office of Legal Counsel, but they didn't put out the memos that showed the success of the effort. And there are reports that show specifically what we gained as a result of this activity. They have not been declassified.”

Now that’s a picture worth a thousand words. The hat, love the hat, and the fact Cheney obviously has no intention of observing the ‘courtesy’ of removing it.

“I always have admired his extraordinary coolness under pressure. Extremely well-spoken and unflappable at all times.”

For that, courage and patriotism, I rank Rumsfeld right up there with Cheney. I may be opening a can of worms here, but if we don’t get into some puny argument about specific tactical issues in Iraq, and instead look at his half-century-plus career, I don’t think you find many real men and great Americans to equal Cheney and Rumsfeld. Both are Reagan quality...both would have been great presidents...neither ever would be elected because they don’t care a bit about image. IMHO, OK, so flame away if you like.

only Sanford and cheney so far has really impressed me thus far for 2012.

You do know that Sanford and Cheney couldn't be more different on national defense and foreign policy?

Jindal shouldn’t have told Cheney to lay off obama

Sanford shouldn't have called Rush and others to be "idiots" for wanting Obama to fail.

I watched him last night and my 16 yr. old daughter watched with me. I said, “there is the smartest man in Washington.” Meant every word. Who among us hasn’t said that if the American people could see what we avoided by rounding up these creeps, it would put dampen the opposition argument. Let’s see how quickly FOIA works when it’s in our favor. If one American was saved by what was done to these scum of the earth, then it was worth it.

And I wish the Cheney’s were my neighbors, I would love to have a conversation with them. God bless them and their family.

Well, you should have declassified this stuff before you left office, Cheney...

Amazing command of the issues. You could literally ask him anything on a relevant topic and he would give you a clear, concise, correct answer. It was all elementary to him and he possessed great confidence.

I know he has heart problems and I wish him well as he lives out his retirement. That being said, I would have loved for him to have been the candidate in '08. We probably would have lost, but it would have been with a conservative on the ticket. The Presidential debates would have been amazing. He would have devoured Obama.

Why in the world did the Bush admin sit this guy in the corner. Cheney had more wisdom than anyone and knew exactly how the left wanted to destroy our way of life as well as all Republicans.

I think Bush listened to him in the first 4 years but abandoned his opinion in the 2nd term and this is what got Bush in trouble.

You know I think it would be smart to start a internet campaign to boycott the census... I will refuse to take part since tax money is financing ACORN and the White House is using the census as a Democrat political power grab...

BOYCOTT CENSUS.

“So far every time Cheney has spoken a Rhino has showed his face.”

RINO’s Schminos: all DC politicians and the ruling political class are pro-big government, anti-liberty and anti-individual rights. There are no “RINOS” because that assumes that there is something called a “Republican” that is something other than a supporter of big government. I believe that there is no such thing, or that if there is, Dick Cheney is one of the very few surviving examples of a truly endangered species.

We are seeing him more this week than the last year he was Vice President. I wish he ran for President. The only thing is I hope he doesn't start a precedent that Vice President can discuss the current administration. I would hate to hear Biden trash talking our administration in 2013.

Bush, Cheney, and many of the rest of the White House staff had better have plans to flee. There will be show trials.
