Name one. Or maybe two or three since they're so "numerous."
I would be very interested if there is even a single example.
"Groups far too numerous to mention" (so you don't mention any specifics) smells like a colossal lie.
Maybe Napolitano is telling the truth, but I seriously doubt this shy of even the slightest evidence.
I'm no Homeland Security expert but I'd think you'd want to be targeting these type of people,
Not America's veterans.
On second thought, maybe we should be on the lookout for Non-Veterans?
From http://stumpedagain.wordpress.com
Im really sick of this bigotry , and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano is but the latest example of a disgusting ignorant prejudice that lives, respected, repeated, and honored, by the movers and shakers in our society. And now the anti-military bigots are in the highest seats of government.
Her warning, sent out last week to every law enforcement agency in the nation, stated that law enforcement on the lookout for terrorists should be particularly wary of military veterans.
Because, you know, they are unstable.
This ignited a firestorm in some quarters (though not in Hyde Park, Harvard or Boulder). So under pressure, she apologized, sort of. Napolitano said she felt genuinely bad for law-abiding vets who may have felt unappreciated. But she didnt apologize for her story line, and indeed, went on in her apology to point out that, well you know, Timothy McVeigh was a soldier, you know.
Which goes to show you, lots of veterans are unstable, you know.
If you dont believe veterans are unstable, click yourself some Netflix. Hollywood, in its thoughtless reversion to stereotype, loves to feature the pitiable crazy vet, locked in a nightmare of violence. And why should we bother to investigate the facts in cold and silent black and white when we have the gory intensity of the surround-sound screen to inform us?
Or we could rely upon the press, who, when a crime is committed by a veteran, never fails to make that the central, salient feature of the narrative. They dont report whether the criminal is Protestant or Catholic, a Buddhist or a Baptist, Republican or Democrat, or whether hes a college graduate or a community-college dropout. But a veteran? Oh, baby, now theres a story line!
And those stories, true stories, make it clear that vets are unstable.
Or are they?
It is a fact that Timothy McVeigh was a soldier. Its also a fact that there are 26 million male veterans in the United States. Thats a lot one out of every 5 adult males. If veterans had a tendency toward instability, they should account for for more than 1/5 of crimes committed.
But they dont.
There are no direct statistics regarding how many crimes are committed by veterans, but in 2000, the Justice Department commissioned a study of how many veterans are incarcerated in prisons, federal and state, across the US. The results may surprise some. The study, http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/press/vpj.pr reported that adult male veterans had an incarceration less than half that of adult male non-veterans.* When one throws in the further qualifier of honorably discharged veterans, the contrast increases, and a 2005 study suggests the gap may be widening yet further.
So, dear gentle ladies,
The bottom line for you is this: If that man beside you is not an honorably discharged veteran, he is two and a half times more likely to be a dope-dealing, bank-robbing, child-abusing, murdering rapist. Not to mention a terrorist.
Let caution be your guide.
I feel left out. Nobody has tried to recruit me.
If STUPID were a communicable disease, this two-bit moron would be quarantined in a shipping crate in the Antarctic.
Napolitano added that “a number of groups far too numerous to mention”
They only exist in her mind, that is why she will not mention even one.
She needs to put up, shut up, and resign!!!!!
In the report, dated April 7 but begun last year, the Department of Homeland Securitys intelligence section stated, The return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks.
A footnote that defined rightwing extremist groups as primarily hate-oriented or anti-government also stated, It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.
Acknowledging criticism by veterans groups, Napolitano said yesterday on CNN, I apologize for that offense. It was certainly not intended.
Her wording also suggests that opponents of abortion are potential terrorists. That would include the Pope and a wide range of U.S. citizens.
What Napolitano really means to say is that anyone with a conservative point of view is her enemy, and Obamas enemy. Obama obviously isnt going to fire her; he agrees with her.
Veterans are recruited by anyone seeking competent people.
Well, we had lotsa practice during the Carter years....It was nice that the Swifties openned the door to ‘talk to’ veterans again, been real! But to be honest I never really trusted any liberal that I ever met anyway, so what’s really changing? Nuttin’ honey.
This woman is pure IDIOT !
I think it was Boortz who said it was no big deal, and we should shut up about it.
IMO anyone who tells Conservatives to shut up about this needs to be
reminded that they'll be arrested and killed last, but killed no matter what
if this kind of Extremism is allowed to fester within any Government.
What the heck do I know. I'm just a dumb, idiot, right wing extremist NRA member
of the worst kind, AMERICAN!
Pretty sure she meant Tea Parties here!
She should shut up and resign.
Pretty sure she meant Tea Parties here.
This is wrong, where's the 97 year old grandmother with blue eyes from the airport?
you've been thru her closet haven't you! ;)
She takes her foot out of her mouth long enough to catch a breath and then shoves it back in again.
