President Obama shook hands with Venezuela's Hugo Chavez on Friday at the opening of the Summit of the Americas being held this weekend in Trinidad and Tobago.
It wasn't immediately clear Friday evening what words were exchanged between the two leaders, but photos released by the Venezuelan government show Obama clasping Chavez's hand and smiling broadly.

Is there going to be a July 4th Teaparty?
Is there going to be a July 4th Teaparty?"
Thank you. Personally, I think from a logistical perspective, the 4th would be a bad idea. There's just too much other stuff going on. It would be an additional burden on Public Safety personnel, and I think we should all celebrate the 4th for what it is.
FWIW, I would have preferred to see today (April 19th) selected as the day for the tea parties. Unfortunately, Waco and OKC have put a negative connotation on Patriot's Day, the anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord. Ironically enough, Patriot's Day is a legal holiday here in Massachusetts, but sadly that has more to do with the Beacon Hill hacks getting a three-day weekend than love of country.
I think we need more tea parties, but not based on particular dates. They should be held, but not too often where people get sick of them. Yes, the squeeky wheel gets the grease, but we also don't want to be perceived as whiners.
The tea parties are crucial, but they can only be a small part of a greater fight to retake our republic.
Instead of staying home and grilling out, protesting on this day shows extra devotion and sacrifice.
The two could be combined though, selling Obama-dogs and fireworks if the venue allows it.
I would say the teaparties go to the heart of what July 4th represents. I don't think the founders themselves would disapprove. WWTFD
This picture of this handshake is the perfect teaparty sign.
This fourth of July will be celebrated mightily by the Obamabots and the MSM will be gushing profusely. I say we crash that party and show them real patriotism and dissent and love of country with a tea party on the 4th.
I was in grade school then, but I remember cheering when he bombed Qaddafi.
This is what I'm afraid of. The globalist communist Obama using the power of the United States to become the godfather of the rest of the communist leaders.
We haven't come that far from those days as we thought, have we?
I think this is an astute insight about Carter.
I think a major egomaniac on par with many dictators of the past has taken over the presidency. I'm not going to say he's Hitler or Stalin but he has fascist tendencies. Firing CEOs is fascist by definition.
I'm not so sure. Yes, there will be fireworks and the "1812 Overture" like always, but I don't see the left draping themselves in the flag.
Look, I love the tea parties. The events on April 15th were like nothing I have witnessed in my forty-some-odd years. However, the misrepresentations (lies) perpetrated by the MSM in reporting the tea parties were also like nothing I have ever witnessed before.
Without trying to sound too cynical, let's not forget that the tea parties are about getting out a message (A.K.A. marketing). I believe that one of the reasons that April 15th was such a success was because we conducted ourselves in a respectable manner. If we resort to "party crashing" then we will have lowered ourselves to the tactics which left-wing protesters have been using for decades. That will only play into the hands of the MSM.
I need another tea party too, but conservative protesting is not something that Americans are used to. We need to go easy since we are under a more powerful microscope than our counterparts. Remember, the tea parties are about energizing Americans so they will reject the irresponsible policies of the federal government. We must remain visible, but we can't allow ourselves to be viewed as a nuisance. We can't allow ourselves to be thought of as a bunch of right-wing Cindy Sheehans.
Then how about May Day? It's like the Communist Fourth of July. Only ten days left, but what a statement it would make! Besides Obama's moving fast and this is a party that deserves to be crashed.
How about May Day?
I will be there for sure.
