POLL: 75% OF TEXANS WOULD VOTE TO STAY IN USA(Total BS poll)

Thirty-one percent (31%) of Texas voters say that their state has the right to secede from the United States and form an independent country.

However, the latest Rasmussen Reports poll in the state finds that if the matter was put to a vote, it wouldn’t even be close. Three-fourths (75%) of Lone Star State voters would opt to remain in the United States. Only 18% would vote to secede, and seven percent (7%) are not sure what they'd choose.

Texas Governor Rick Perry, in response to a reporter’s question about secession at a protest "tea party," said Wednesday, "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that? But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot." The comment was widely reported in the media.

Visit my brother in law in Corpus Christi. He's as liberal as they come.

“no way that 75% of Texans believe we should stay in US.”

I totally agree. The poll is bogus! When watching Glenn Beck (on TV) at the San Antonio Tea Party the other day and he even mentioned the world “secession,” the crowd erupted in VERY loud cheers.

The support for secession in Texas is definitely much greater than the liberal fascists would like to admit.

Lincoln put an end to that idea a long time ago... :-)

They over-sampled Houston and South Austin.

No one asked me either, on a poll, but I wouldn’t have answered anyway. But, here I’ll state it. I wouldn’t vote for secession. And I doubt there’s ever any significant amount in such an election anyway — assuming one could *even* get something on the ballot in the first place (which I don’t think could ever happen either).

Someone else on another thread said that they knew a legislator and they were going to see if that person could get a bill going on the issue. I said I would be interested to see that happen, as I don’t think you could get a bill out to vote on either...

I guess we’ll see...

Who says Lincoln “put an end” to anything? That isn’t written in stone if history is any guide. I’m sure that Lenin in 1920 and Queen Victorian after the Sepoy mutiny thought that they had “put an end” to secessionist movements.

Sorry guy, but no way would I ever vote to betray my country and leave the union. I know that I’m easily in the majority. There is no movement afoot in Texas to secede outside of the usual suspects who’ve long since been card carrying whack-jobs.

You said — I think it is incredibly significant at this point to even have 25% in what was prolly a tainted poll.

You might as well look at a poll like this as a “gripe session”... LOL...

People gripe, but when if it were ever a ballot issue, you would never get anywhere near those numbers...

It’s like people griping online, too (just like here...) — you hear a lot of it, but when it comes down to who is doing something — nothing happens.

A good example of that would be — if people think taxes are outrageous, then one very simple thing to do would be for all conservatives to stop paying their taxes, right now — all at once. And as soon as we got different elected representatives, we would pay our taxes again.

Do you think that would ever happen (although you would get a large number who would “say” they would do it... LOL....) — nope, it wouldn’t happen, although it would be very effective...

“[are there any mountain in TX? I gotta have mountains]”

The only Mountains as you’re thinking are way out west in the big bend area of Texas, but they’re kind of dry.

However central Texas is famous for its Hill Country, with some major hills/minor mountains in parts of it; all covered with oaks, junipers, and numerous lakes.

That’s the way history worked out... in case you didn’t notice (of course, you wouldn’t have been there, but you should know the history).

While states may have had the so-called “right” to do so before Lincoln, after Lincoln the whole thing changed and that put an end to it.

But, as far as 10 Amendment issues and going through the courts and getting the states on board for that, I think that’s fine. But, you’ll never get the support for any secession movement in the public, at least never any significant amount to vote for it.

And the last “secession” vote in Texas was only about 66% I believe, if I remember right. Another 17 points and they would have never done it — even back then...

Wow! We're ONLY four months into the Obama presidency and 25% of Texans want to leave! Give this poll again next year and lets see what it is.

I bet this poll was taken in Austin, Houston and Dallas. Here in Midland/Odessa it's probably closer to 99%. I would venture to say that all rural Texas is closer to 99%.

18% of 30 million ? Criminy that's 4.8 million people ready to get out.

By comparison, Iraq had what ... maybe 50 thousand insurgents?

25/75 is probably right, FOR NOW. Texans still are Americans first.

With oBOWma now talking up this UN gun grab on top of all his other insane leftist, backdoor reparations, conservatives are the terrorists, socialism going forward without regard to majority of Americans preferences, these numbers can change signicantly. One ignitor would be the GOV trying to use the military or his brownshirts against the citizens, FOR ANY REASON.

Texans do not want to secede now... The support is building for it...will continue to gain momentum as the federal gov’t keep usurping state’s rights.

They may not yet be ready to seriously consider secession at this time, but its a safe bet that the numbers favoring it will be rising as federal power inexorably expands. And this issue has now entered the national diaglogue. Just wait until taxpayers across the land are asked to foot the bill to pay for other insolvent states (e.g., California, New York, Massachusetts, etc.). At that point, there's going to be widespread discussion of secession.

“no way would I ever vote to betray my country and leave the union.”

Ok, well, let me give you a scenario:

“The Democratic Party renames itself the “Socialist Party of America” (SPA). They ban the Republican Party (and all others) and impose one-party rule. All public dissent is officially prohibited.

All hospitals are forced to provide abortions. Gay marriage is legalized throughout the entire country. The United Nations gets complete authority to stipulate and influence United States’ law.

Taxes are raised to the sky. People making over $50,000 per year see massive tax hikes. Government spending goes through the roof. The dollar becomes worthless and we see hyper-inflation.

All coal production is shut down, in the name of “environmental progress.” All nuclear power plants are also shut down. Consumer energy costs skyrocket.”

And I could go on, and on, and on.

Please know that I’m not trying to be rude or anything; I’m just asking a question, and here it is:

Would you REALLY want to live in a country like that? That is an example of what will come if we don’t get these Marxists voted out of office.
