POLL: 75% OF TEXANS WOULD VOTE TO STAY IN USA(Total BS poll)

Thirty-one percent (31%) of Texas voters say that their state has the right to secede from the United States and form an independent country.

However, the latest Rasmussen Reports poll in the state finds that if the matter was put to a vote, it wouldn’t even be close. Three-fourths (75%) of Lone Star State voters would opt to remain in the United States. Only 18% would vote to secede, and seven percent (7%) are not sure what they'd choose.

Texas Governor Rick Perry, in response to a reporter’s question about secession at a protest "tea party," said Wednesday, "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that? But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot." The comment was widely reported in the media.

You said — Star Traveler’s no troll. Hmmmm. I guess that means he’s just a Scalawag who’s F.O.S. then.

Well, “scalawag” would be the best name I’ve been called, from the list that has been directed my way in the past... :-)

[definition: In US history, a derogatory term for white Southerners who, during and after the Civil War 1861–65, supported the Republican Party, and black emancipation and enfranchisement.]

The GOP is still the Party of Lincoln, isn’t it? (I never was a Southern Democrat; wasn’t it President Reagan that broke that up?)

You said — You have proven yourself to be in favor of one world government, troll.

Just for the record..., I am in favor of a “one-world government” which the United States comes under the jurisdiction of the same. I’m looking forward to it happening pretty soon now. It’s called the Kingdom of God, and it will be set up with Jesus the Messiah, ruling in His *one world government* over all the nations on the earth, from Israel (and it will include the United States, too). I do fully-well expect this to be happening in a relatively short period of time and to see it myself.

So, yes... I hope this one-world-government comes quickly.... I’m looking forward to it...

[... this is not hyperbole or parody, now..., as I’m *fully well expecting* it to happen, *exactly* as the Bible says it will. I hope you’re looking forward to it, too, although our Constitution will be rewritten, and I’m afraid there will be *no right of secession* in this one-world-government, either.]

You said — Actually you don’t have it in writing. Texas was readmitted to the union under reconstruction voiding the original terms.

Many in Texas would prefer to ignore that “inconvenient truth” of history, Please don’t repeat it, at the risk of you being a troll... :-)

I don’t think it will happen (at least in the foreeable future) but nothing is inevitable in history.

I disagree completely.

First off, conservatives know very well that liberals run the polling companies, and it is a known and documented fact that when polled, some conservatives hide their real views and adjust their answers to conform more to what the liberal pollers “approve of”, in order to avoid ridicule or derision. Therefore the 25% figure is lower than the real number who would consider secession.

Plus, in normal times, the number who would even consider secession from the Union would and should be less than 3%, prolly less than 1%. The fact that it is so high is a testament to the outrageous and widely understood unconstitional, reckless, and dangerous behaviors of the administration and congress critters.

This is major news, no matter that you try to spin it as commonplace griping and complaining. And you can be sure the Libs in power privately have noted and considered it as such.

As I said before, to simplify things and make it easy to gauge support — just let me know when the bill for putting it to the people reaches the floor of the legislature. :-)

Until then, it’s a lot of hot air and talk...

And by the way, there was a poster who said he is going to see if his legislature-friend can put up such a bill. I’ll be waiting to see this get out of committee — expressly for the purpose of gauging support.

Wanna bet it never gets out of committee, or even, the legislator won’t even try to put such a bill forth for the people to be able to vote on such a thing?

Your definition of Scalawag:
“In U.S history, a derogatory term who during and after the Civil War 1861-1865, supported the Republican Party, and Black emancipation and enfranchisement.”
Sorry, the real meaning is that of a turncoat and traitor to his own people.

So, 69% of the people in TX have no idea about their state’s history, their formation, and their entry into the Union.

Well..., central_va, you said — He posts like a troll, he is a troll.

What I’ve found is the most commonly used definition of a troll — here on Free Republic — is someone who posts something that you don’t like and presents information and facts about that. :-)

That seems to be a favorite definition of troll for many posters on Free Republic... actually.

Which means, you are probably a troll to many other FReepers here, too...

It’s all “relative” doncha know... LOL...

You and Star Traveler’s contintion, may be correct in the klintoon sense of what the meaning of Is is.

If this ever comes to pass, the situation of being FORCED to rejoin (not readmitted), may not void the original intent and it damn sure won’t hinder any real Texans, if it ever comes to that. Just like the Texicans told the stinkin mexicans in 1836, COME AND TAKE IT, will certainly again apply to anyone wishing to interfere next time and with the same outcome.

I think it’s mostly the transplants to Texas that support this. Anyone native born would never support secession.

Well it might be a moot point. Some slick professor down in Austin says he doubts the US or any court would approve of the idea.

He did say we could split into 5 separate states and 5X our power in Congress.

I'll post a thread and ping you unless it's not already out there.

You said, referring to a professor in Austin — He did say we could split into 5 separate states and 5X our power in Congress.

I have seen that statement repeated many time. And I’m not sure how valid that ability is — in our current day government. But, it is true that this ability was originally given. As to whether it’s still viable today, is another question.

I don’t think anything was affected by the Civil War, in regards to this particular question.

But, in regards to multiplying our power by 5 times... I’m not convinced of that one. With the House of Representatives, it wouldn’t seem to make too much difference as that is allocated according to population. So, it just gets divided up (not multiplied) by such a division.

However, with the Senate, there may be a slight element of truth there. But, there is an “offsetting factor” in that each “new state” would be looking out for its own interests and not the interests of the other four states. So, I don’t see a benefit overall.

The best benefit Texas can have is to stay all together, in one piece and use the “combined strength” that it has...
