In Lee's Summit, nearly 300 people turned out for a "tea party" on the steps at City Hall to express their frustration at how their tax dollars are being spent.
About 3,000 people also attended a tax protest at Liberty Memorial Wednesday afternoon.
About 10,000 people attended another protest at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park Wednesday evening.

The MARTA transportation facility was efficient and cheerful, so they deserve one huge AT-A-BOY as well.
The police were all smiles, and very helpful.
Just WOW!
I hear you got a chance to meat my Congressman, Todd Tiahrt!
I’m so upset I couldn’t make it. My head was splitting (sugar detox, yuck) and I was in bed most of the day. I planned on this for weeks and am so disappointed I wasn’t there. Did you get any pics? 10,000 - wonderful!
I didn’t get any pics, I was to busy holding my sign!
I think lilycicero got pics.
Thanks. I hope the tea parties continue.
Manhattan had thousands! Great time!
I had no idea that they were having one in Lee’s Summit, which is where I live! I was stuck at work. Of course, I work just down the street from Johns County Community College, but didn’t get off of work until it was over. :-(

The TEA parties are a solid start. But we, the people, have to follow up by having Push Back Until events later this year, early next year, and for as long as we have to: http://pushbackuntil.com.
It will not be easy, but how interested are we in saving our country from an irresponsible Congress? If we, the people, do nothing, our country is finished.
Be in D.C. to Push Back Until!

OBAMANOMICS: Chains you can believe in!
I’m in LSMO too, and the first I heard of an event in Lee’s Summit was on the news tonight.
Of course, I’m recuperating from achilles tendon surgery and probably shouldn’t have gone anyway today, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time anyway.
Here are a few photos from the complete album.
It was very encouraging to see so many people with creative signs at this event. Was kind of surprised how good the turnout was since people were divided across the various "parties" around town. All the support (thumbs up, honking, etc.) from the people driving by was great, too.
One NYPD officer told me that “not even 2,000” were there, but it seemed as if there were more. Would you agree that it could have been between 3-4 thousand?
The event was on Chambers Street by City Hall Park, on both sides of the street. It seemed as if there were crowds of people for blocks.
Great pics! It was an awesome turnout!
they had to keep making the pens bigger in order to help clear the other side of the street. they hadn't planned on the rally spilling over to the west side of broadway and had no barriers set up. so the sidewalk was blocked.
so they expanded the pens on the east side of the street at least 3 times in order for people to fit.
