Hang the SOB. To bring him back to stand trial will cost a fortune. Even if he is found guilty, they won’t hang him, but instead will make the American taxpayer support his sorry carcass for the next 60 years or more in a prison sell. It is simple economics. Two hour trial at sea. He is guilty by his own admission. Just hang him and toss his carcass to the sharks.

I think "yardarm" would be more seawordy in this case.
(....that is, if ships still have yardarms.)

C'mon folks!
These are enlightened times.
Let's think COMPROMISE here, okay?
Some would keep him in irons on the U.S. Navy ship, while others would just send him back to Somalia.
The compromise?
Send him exactly half-way back.

He should be brought to the US, given a green card, a fully paid scholarship to Harvard and one of those $400,000 foreclosed homes in Boston. He needs to learn how great America really is. Maybe he could be appointed to the senate if Kennedy ever dies, or maybe John Kerry.
To: Panzerlied
Why is the US Government even discussing the options? Hang him from the bow of the ship while in harbor.

Federal law enforcement authorities are discussing what to do... What's to discuss? You follow the law. Or is the law applied arbitrarily in 0Bama's America? The tenor of the author suggests arbitrary application is OK with him.
This reminds me of why I hate CNN.

I know this: as long as he is alive, he is part of the next ransom demand. So they’d best put him somewhere that nobody knows for sure. And that place had better be some country that has no ships to hijack.

Make him walk the plank or keel-haul him then make him walk the plank. Seems appropriate.
