The situation was resolved successfully. Kvetching about it looks petty in the eyes of people who don’t have an ideological axe to grind. Obama didn’t perform the rescue himself, but it happened on his watch, and he deserves a measure of credit, just as the ultimate responsibility would have been his if it had failed. Trying spin this as anything other than a success is counterproductive and ultimately won’t work. Time to move on to other issues. JMHO.
It was micromanaged. He dithered. It turned out well because it was a very small and easily contained crisis. That’s the message that more savvy enemies will pick up. Heaven help us when the next more complex crises arise.
Total BS. His incompetence is scary. This was a very easy situation compared to what we are facing with Al Qaeda and Taliban terrorists, the Iranian terrorist regime and North Korea and compared to what we will be facing in the future. If it took him almost three days to order the shooting in this situation that could have been resolved in the first day then what is he going to do and how long are we going to wait for him to make a decision when we are faced with real and big crisis from the much more dangerous enemies that I mentioned above.
I tend to agree. We’re not really privy to the goings-on at the moment. From the outside, being wishy-washy looks just the same as being prudent. And, not caring about the hostage looks just the same as not wanting to give the hostage-takers untoward notoriety. So, really, all we can make judgments about is the outcome, and one thing’s clear about that: there weren’t any leaders of the minority party marching to the microphones, decrying the resolution as a cowboy-like overreaction, and claiming the whole thing was an example of Obama’s “failed foreign policy”. In that way, it differed from every action the prior President took.
acording to the timeline here is how Obama was coerced into giving up on negotiating for the Somali pirates' release
NSC officials visit obama and sit him down and explain what the deal is and how it is going down,
after trying to get his way by negotiating with the pirates , but realizing, FINALLY, the consequences, Obama gives in and goes sits in the corner with his dunce hat on and says meekly, (EVEN AFTER BEING EDUCATED) "'Have we tried everything to make this reach a peaceful conclusion?",
YES, the SEALS will take care of it mr president , now sign this and go back to your pizza and video game
YOU are spinning it - hard.
I firmly believe that he vacillated endlessly in the hope that these nickel and dime punkasses would surrender and ONLY WHEN the risk of them making some unanticipated aggressive move against the captain weighed against him (Obama..., which his advisors would have been sweating about and whispering their concerns to him over) did he move and authorize them to take out the pirates. Not because it was the right thing to do. Not because the Navy had secured a towline and maneuvered them close. ONLY BECAUSE of the fact that if they killed the captain, Obama would have been toasted and roasted in the world press for having missed so many chances to kill the pirates. THAT is the only reason he finally acted.
This is a bit off-topic, but not off-target. Please go here:

In the spirit of the Tea Party I ask you all to join this additional effort to THROW ALL THE BUMS OUT in 2010. It's done in the form of a petition demanding that Obama resign.
Sign and support an agenda to take back our government and Nation as one of, by and for the people next November. A good friend initiated this petition and we need it to spread and "get legs" to compliment the Tea Party and other efforts that rally CROSS-POLITCAL-SPECTRUM support against him and those that empower him.
