The American captain of a cargo ship held hostage by pirates jumped overboard from the lifeboat where he was being held, and U.S. Navy SEALs shot and killed three of his four captors, according to a senior U.S. official with knowledge of the situation.

Well, from what I see... The military (or navy as you might prefer) were negligent in their non-action during the captains first escape attempt (yes, successful in the second effort). So they made it up with his second attempt. Thank goodness they finally were on the ball. As to the rest, political or otherwise, those that had nothing to do with it will try to take credit for the others action. Politics is no different than yesterday...
I still wonder why they were asleep during the first attempt...and do question their ability (unless they were so ordered by Obama - then I would understand - and weep)...

SEALS rock.
Hussein is deeply saddened, having hoped the pirates would take him back to [Somalia, Kenya, etc.] as their cabin boy.

The situation had come to a point where only a military operation would satisfy the American people
JUST WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN?
That WE need to show the world that we do not tolerate piracy or negotiate with them.

While I share some frustration that the fringe element seems to have become the face of the conservative movement of late, you should learn not to overreact to posts on FR.
Although we try to be fact-based and realistic here, this is also a place to blow off some frustration over situations that we find maddening. Next time you encounter an over-the-top comment, ask yourself if the commenter might not be kidding, at least a little. If you’re really not sure, ask; the answer is frequently, “Yes.”

It means that a diplomatic 'solution' would be viewed as a defeat. A "diplomatic solution" would've been a defeat because it wouldn't have worked.
This was the proper way to handle it from the start.

I don’t think that is what the poster meant....sounded to me more like the poster was lamenting citizen bloodlust versus diplomacy...especially in the context of the paragraph

It’s unfair to shoot a man who just crapped his pants.

The military ... were negligent in their non-action during the captain's first escape attempt
I just read recently that the Bainbridge does not carry SEALS or sharpshooters. If that is the case, then they could do nothing when the Captain jumped overboard. They were probably more frustrated than we were.
But, all the needed personal were in place the next time the captain jumped. The navy and the SEALS deserve our praise for their rescue.

"Now the questions are will the NAVY SEALS be charged with 3 counts of murder and will the Captain of the Bainbridge be held for charging them murder, you have to ask in this Era of Obama."No, too much publicity and public support for this. It's not like they were illegal Mexican drug smugglers that were killed.

Old Navy tradition. Save one for the crows...
Excellent idea, he can dance the hempen jig just the way Stede Bonnet did at White Point Gardens in Charleston, SC.
