"Fall Weekend" will be taking the place of the holiday formerly known as "Columbus Day" at Brown University this fall.
The faculty of the Ivy League university voted at a meeting Tuesday to establish a new academic and administrative holiday in October called "Fall Weekend" that coincides with Columbus Day, but that doesn't bear the name of the explorer.
Hundreds of Brown students had asked the Providence, R.I. school to stop observing Columbus Day, saying Christopher Columbus's violent treatment of Native Americans he encountered was inconsistent with Brown's values.

Uh, Italians aren't Anglos. Only the Poms/Limeys/Tea Drinkers are Anglos. Us Eye-ties (or HALF-Italians in my case) have more ethnically in common with many hispanics (and not the "Indios" from Mexico) than we do with the friggin' English.
Columbus Day is celebrated throughout Latin America, but is getting attacked there as well.
Reminds me at Christmas time that people say “Happy Holidays” vice “Merry Christmas” for fear of say the “Christ” word.
My kids don’t get a Christmas break....they get Winter break. They don’t have homeroom...they have EO - Enriching Opportunities....and they school is staffed with a ‘stress dog’, which the students can pet if they get stressed out.
And I consider it the best school district in the area.

And a Gen. Patton Day for the rest of the cowards just to remind them what a real man was all about.
For the rest of the weirdos, we can have a Barney’s Frank Day. Free hotdogs with brown mustard, for all the PCers.

We can transmit our preachy morals back 500 years and say Columbus was wrong, yet we abort 50 million infants and don’t bat an eye! Planned Parenthood abortion mills surround our nations’ black ghettos like panzer tanks - yet we act as if a racist genocide is not occurring everyday in America. It is now being funded with taxpayer dollars.
Columbus lifted the Indians out of ignorance, cannibalism, and barbarism,....and then he gave them the wheel which they didn’t have. Apply the same morals to the Indians as to Columbus - if it is to be fair. Slavery already existed in Mesoamerica. Human sacrifice was gigantic, with evidence of cannibalism. There was wholesale slaughter occurring amongst their tribes, but these facts never get mentioned. Frankly, more Indian lives were saved from themselves by the Europeans than killed. The Spanish stopped the sacrifices.
