You may remember a tune called "Expressway to Your Heart" by the Soul Survivors from 1967. Change a few of the personnel and -- voila! -- you have The Ides of March!

If you listen carefully, you'll note that this song is about a child molester told from his point of view. Pretty bold for 1970.

Jewel Akens’ only hit. He did a song called “The Only Way to Fly”, which was pretty good, but it came and went without impact. Another vanishing act.

I was Music Director of a college radio station in Philly when this song came out in 1968. Dion DiMucci hadn't done anything in 5 years, so I was surprised when I put this recording on and found myself listening to an instant classic. I got chills.

I put it on the playlist immediately.

The USS Stetham and Chafee are foreward deployed off Japan, and the USS Lake Erie is on station somewhere in the N. Pacific.....all standing watch over us and our ally, Japan.

An appropriate tune? Hmmm.....How about "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide" dedicated to all the Sailors and Officers protecting our shores this night.
