I got 9 mm ammo for my son for Christmas. Tried to buy more this weekend, couldn’t find any in my small city.

My stimulus plan: Going to Black Wing Shooting Center (Delaware, OH) to buy a Springfield XD40 and a Mossberg 500. Gonna make it a family event.

It is my opinion that the average "Joe" head of household type does not need an huge arsenal and deep supply of ammo. It is highly unlikely any doomsday scenario will pan out as feared. A "Joe" might get five rounds off before he is tagged in return. Fear is a strong motivator. Guns are tangible security.

My suggestion is to stock up on cases of Spam.

Here's my tip of the month: there is still a great pistol and ammo deal out there waiting for you. If you have waited too long to arm up, or are on a tight budget, look at the excellent milsurp CZ-52 pistol and 7.62X25 Tokarev ammo.

You can get a CZ-52 for about $200 at any gun show or at many gun stores. The ammo can be had for as low as 11 cents a round in any quantity you want. Extra mags are from $12 to $20 each.

The milsurp ammo is full metal jacket, firing an 85gr bullet at 1,600fps. These will go through car doors, kevlar helmets, kevlar vests etc like an icepick through butter. OTOH, they will also go through one bad guy and maybe hit a good guy behind him.

However, you can buy hollowpoints ("Wolf Gold" with brass shells) for about $19/50, or half the price of comparable 9mm JHPs. My test "Wolf Gold" JHP ammo expanded to .60 caliber, the same as my test 9mm JHPs.

So for $400, you could buy a CZ-52, 1,500 rounds of assorted ammo, and a few extra mags. OR, you could buy about 2/3s of a "brand name" pistol, and no ammo.

It's just a thought. This is a great bargain. The ammo is cheap and plentiful at all of the internet catalog sites. Don't wait, the libtards will soon slam the door on foreign gun and ammo imports, and the prices will go way up.

Another benefit of this pistol is that it is very accurate, with very fine sights. WIth this flat-shooting ammo, you can hit at 100 yards with ease. Downsides are brittle firing pins (buy a spare, and don't dry fire) and a decocking function that you should not trust. Just lower the SA hammer like a 1911. The safety works like a 1911, so if you are used to 1911s, it will be very easy to use the CZ-52

No, but I wish all you guys would quit hoarding it so I can lay in some more — for responsible use of course. /sarc

The same thing is going on with reloading supplies. Primers are out or are being rationed (100 primers per person). Bullets are in limited supply and higher prices. Powder is out or in very limited supply.

I saw a guy at asking at the counter about a powder he used. None in stock. How about a different powder. Nope. Then he named several more powders. The seller had one pound of one of them. He started putting it in the buyers bag. The buyer said, “How much is it? — uh, forget that — just put it in the bag and ring it up.”

No!!!!!!!

Guns and their bullets kill people.

I prefer holding hands, discussing my intermost ‘feelings’ and singing kumbaya as a tool to keep me protected from the problems created by capitalism and Christianity.

I see crowds at the local ranges like I have never seen before. People are buying a lot of ammo but they are also shooting a lot of ammo.

You can’t hoard it if you can’t get it. There is no 9 mm anywhere in our city (Walmarts, gun shops, etc.) The gun shops say they can’t get it from the manufacturer...why that is, I have no idea (supply and demand, I guess) but why can’t they get at least a small amount?

the shares of gunmaker Smith & Wesson have more than doubled

We own SWHC, there's been a downtrend the last couple days, but it's still performing well compared to other stocks. I think it's at 6 bucks a share, and about a month ago it was around 3. It made it up to $6.80 a few days ago. Funny, when they're touting well performing stocks on the financial shows, you hardly ever hear them mention Smith and Wesson or Ruger. Guess it's not politiclly correct, LOL.

No such thing as 'hoarding' ammo. It's called.
