I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.
I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.
If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.
And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

And don't forget, that God gave us leaders & evangelists to "equip the saints for the work of ministry" (Ephesians 4:11-12). There's thousands of FREEPERS and thousands of lurkers who have firsthand contact with LDS -- people who love the Mormons in their lives.
Perhaps it's time for them to step out of their "comfort zones" and witness to the Mormons they love.
I mean how many times have we seen well-meaning FREEPER comments about how "nice" the Mormons are that they know -- not realizing that the Bible says absolutely nothing about "niceness" being the passageway into heaven -- and the means of steering clear of outer darkness.
Does Jesus seek out 'Nice' people to take to 'Nice' Heaven?
In a word, "no." I'd suggest that FREEPERS who pull out their "nice-meters" to measure how "nice" people are need to realize that Jesus didn't come to earth to fish for "nice" fish:
Jesus answered them, "It is NOT the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have NOT come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Luke 5:31-32)
So guess what? I "qualify" for Jesus' target audience. If any of us think our self-based righteousness can stand the glare of a perfect, all-holy, all-righteous, all-just God, then they substituted a different god for the One of the Bible.
Furthermore, I'd say that nice religious folks, whether they have a...
...Christian,
...Mormon
...or other background
-- if they substitute themselves as "the way" in place of Christ as the "Way" (John 14:6) -- face a big surprise awaiting them.
A concrete Mormon example of this: Mitt Romney's father's cousin, Marion G. Romney, who was a member of the upper-etchelon LDS "First Presidency":
"This Church is the ensign on the mountain spoken of by the Old Testament prophets. It is the way, the truth, and the life" (Conference Report, April, 1961, pg. 119).
No, Marion, no Mr. Mormon. There's absolutely NO substitute for Christ! Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
Mormon substitutes its church for Jesus. 1000 Silverlings said in post #1513:

Is Smith our door & gate into heaven?
Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. (John 10:7-9)
I’d be a fool to read “scripture” coming from a Mormon or Mormon sympathizer. Even if it from the King James Bible. It is NOT a Christian denomination like Baptist and Lutheran, it’s a cult, plain and simple. That’s not hate, that’s not finger pointing, that’s a fact. Obama is a treasonous Marxist, that’s not racism or hate. Joe Smith was a pervert conman, that’s not hate or bigotry. I’ve never hated on any Mormons or attacked them. But the teaching of Joe Smith is damnable heresy coming from a criminal.
By rejecting God's revealed truth, you believe a lie, and that is His wish, leaving you to run off a cliff with your vain imaginings,(talk about traditions of men!) and embracing the ultimate lie, that you will be as gods.
Rejecting God's Word, you next reject the truth that God is Spirit, that the Plan of Salvation was conceived before creation, that Jesus Christ is the only-begotten Son of God, not a little "spirit child" akin to the created angel Lucifer. He was also sinless, not married and a sinner.
So I was always honest about it and that too the mods said stop bring it up to those like to use it as fodder!
In fact, if the church that you belong to, teaches that Jesus is a sinner, and if you believe them and not God, you are committing terrible sin.

Stop lying about what I said, because I only said what Joseph Smith said. Joseph Smith taught that God is a man. Yes he claims he is an “exalted” man, but he is a man nevertheless. Your so-called scriptures claim that The Heavenly Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s. Joseph Smith taught that man was once as we are now and that he lived on an earth like ours and that after some time he was “exalted” to become a God. Joseph Smith taught that God was not always God but that he BECAME God.
This is blasphemy of the worst sort. And your attempt to hide it by refusing to answer my questions while at the same time accusing me of deception is the worst kind of blasphemous deception. They repent earnestly and mean it in their heart that they will strvie to stop using naughty words.
Which was the case of this person I have no clue what else one does only where in this case where there is smoke their is fire!
and when ever this kind of stuff is talked about those who dislike the LDS try to find a loop hole and go off in another direction instead of seeing the action.

Discussing theological differences is not the same as disrespecting another, nor of even disliking them. In fact, just the opposite is often the case. This is not a theological thread, but it has become one. So that being the case, you need to bring your best game and defend your theology if you call it that and not defend just a life-style.
