WASHINGTON The Mexican government is not on the verge of collapse, the top U.S. intelligence official said Thursday, seeking to tamp down increasing alarm over the powerful and violent drug cartels operating in the country that is the United States' southern neighbor.
"Mexico is in no danger of becoming a failed state," said National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair at his first news conference Thursday.
Echoing the assessment of Mexico's leaders, Blair said the dramatic increase in killings in Mexico is a result of that government's crackdown on drug cartels.

Of course it’s not/s
You'd have Somalia.
“March 26th: National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair says “Mexico is in no danger of becoming a failed state.”
I think that should give Mexico about 48 hours to live.
or Mexico
or Zimbabwe
or Kenya
or Venezuela
or a dozen other sh!tholes dear leader admires and emulates
Agree: Blair is a failure as the Director of National Intelligence, which, in an Obama administration, is an oxymoron (for both the word “intelligence” as in information and in “intelligence” as to the IQ of those who voted for him.
Vincente Fox was a smoozing pendajo, but Calderon seems to be a lot smarter and tougher. His use of elite Army units is the key to smashing the drug cartels. These guys don’t fool around, and I’m willing to bet that many of them were trained by US Special Forces.
In Mexico, they don’t have to read the enemy their rights. They might read them after they have blown their balls off. I can live with that.
“Mexico owes $100 billion - 80% of it to American banks - and here is what is going to happen: About two weeks after the first country goes bankrupt we are going to survive that because most of that money is owed to European banks; German, Swiss and French banks. The 2nd country is going to go down probably Argentina or Brazil and we will kind of live that out and people will settle down and say ‘Well maybe it’s not going to hurt.’
But two weeks after the first country goes down, Mexico is going to default on $100 billion. And when the banks open the next day at 9:00 am in the morning $15 billion an hour is going to be withdrawn from our American banks. They are going to be running our banks; the Arabs, all the Latin American countries. They are going to be running our banks - and before the day is over the United States is going to have to declare a bank holiday. And we are going into six months of the worst hell America has ever seen!
There is going to be chaos! Not even the National Guard is going to be able to quiet it down. We are going to have to call out the whole United States Army.”
(the above quote is a paraphrased version of a David Wilkerson sermon in 1993 taken by someone present that night)
I think Clinton gave Mexico some funds in 1995, but Wilkerson’s words may still apply. Guess time will tell.
I find it funny that its just now really national news, we’ve been seeing it here on the local news here in El Paso on a regular basis for probably a year and a half now. Rumors, news, people that know someone. You know how it goes.
On or before June 1st......
Might be the most productive thing to happen.
We could annex a lot of resources, liquidate them to American companies, as they exploit mexicos resources they could set up company towns with schools and hospitals and infrastructure, bring them into our way of life.
Not only that we could use the army in the territories and set a date to integrate them.
Plus shorten our border.
Do you really think they’d be honest enough to call him by his real title: National Intelligence Manipulator?
Why are two black Tribbles threatening that man?
Mexico was founded on a policy of corruption by corrupt Spanish masters - racists, who conquered corrupt racists. It goes very deep.
Brilliant and broadly applical to all aspects of life. Nothing is guaranteed sure thing, ever. Hubris that most dangerous of human traits.
Now we don't just have change. We have hope.
Spot on and absolutely correct.
Then you really should care, no?
You left out NOLA, Detroit, any others?
