WASHINGTON (AP) — Everyone from President Barack Obama on down to fans has criticized how college football determines its top team. Now senators are getting off the sidelines to examine antitrust issues involving the Bowl Champion Series.
The current system "leaves nearly half of all the teams in college football at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to qualifying for the millions of dollars paid out every year," the Senate Judiciary's subcommittee on antitrust, competition policy and consumer rights said in a statement Wednesday announcing the hearings.

Franky, Annie, I’d rather have them arguing about football, the NCAA final four, American Idol, and Hannah Montana for the next 4 years than lift a finger to pass any legislation at all.

No parody - the Big 12 ended in a three way tie so they chose the winner by using BCS rankings - Oklahoma had been defeated by Texas early in the season but their BCS ranking was higher so they went to the championship game.
UofTexas screamed and whined but seemed to forget that late in the season, when they were ranked #1, Texas Tech beat Texas but all they kept screeching was that they beat Oklahoma! lol
I still don't want the Feds getting involved in anything else - even if the system might work better if tweaked a bit....
