At his news conference Tuesday night, President Obama stressed the four most important goals he hopes to accomplish this year: health care reform, energy legislation, education reform, and deficit reduction. But by the end of the hour-long session with the White House press corps, Obama had retreated on three of the four.

You don’t have to be Kreskin to see that Obama’s numbers are falling like the mercury in a Yukon winter, and the Democrats are, in consequence, headed for a thorough trashing in 2010. After that, congressional Democrats will circle the wagons and more or less ignore anything and everything coming from the White House. It won’t be enough, and the current administration will be voted out of office in 2012 with the lowest popularity rating in the nation’s history.
Sadly you are right. But there will be a general impression out there of his betrayal and failure to complete his promises, and that is not a bad thing.

Earlier he said the he will use “Cap and Trade” to pay down the deficit and fund Health Care. So when he says that, this is a code phrase for raising taxes across the board.
