You're ahead of me. I didn't think of his next career. Rather only as a temporary obamination, er abomination in tights.

It isn’t all mortgage deductions — unless he changed the plan recently, but over a certain $ amount deductions — in other words the rich will be hit, doesn’t sound like you will be affected. I do, however, concur if you qualify (don’t owe more than the allowed amount for your age on your current home and live in an area that isn’t considered rural - where the allowed amount is much lower) check into a reverse mortgage.

President Barack Obama is obsessed with his wife’s clothes

He just wishes they were his size. If he would gain some weight...

I guess he doesn’t think significantly cutting executive compensation will have as large or larger impact on charitable giving as cutting out the deduction?

Both my brother and sister-in-law are Republicans and did not vote for Obama. When I told them the story about the ‘Born Alive Protection Act,’ they were actually shocked. My brother didn’t even believe me. Can you imagine what would have happened to Obama if the media had put this story on the front page everyday, the way they used to harass Pres. Bush about the war.

Wow, I’m shocked. Now, when CNN’s comments start to mirror this I’ll feel maybe the country has started to wake up.

Does anyone know if he's found his desk yet?

I have heard that he does not spend that much time in the Oval office at his desk, but instead is prone to wander the hallways, poking his head into various staff offices and in essence asking "How's it going"?

The guy is a buffoon & an idiot & grossly incompetent and it shows up dramatically in his lazy work habits and inability to focus on his job. After all, this is his first real entry level job, that of president of the U.S. What a time for on the job training or your first real job!

Mr. Confidence has all the answers. He seems clueless that he’s getting this country into such massive debt that we may never recover.

I would never get a Reverse Mortage. Be sure to read the cons.

I think there is the possibility you could live a lot longer then expected then you would end up without a place to live.

Reverse Mortage Pros and Cons

We were able to pay our house off. We are on S.S. and a small retirement income. If we had a mortage at this time we would be in a fix.

I don't know how old you are but if at all possible make extra payments and pay it off as soon as possible. That has been a big help for us.

Thankfully, I had other things to do during this Presser/ Propoganda Op...

Did any of our BRAVE media bother to inquire about the 111 DEAD American Soldiers, and 1861 DEAD Civilians killed under Obama’s watch in Iraq and Afghanistan??

It would seem our brave men and women dying no longer matters to them, now that a DEMOCRAT is in charge.

If you still have 20 years left on your mortgage, it makes sense to put a moderate amount toward the principal. Again, I'm talking about 1 extra payment a year for the next 12 years. That will shorten the mortgage by much more than 12 months.

well, we are not “rich”, but we have learned to live well on a reasonably modest income. The constantly changing tax rules over the years of self-employment have made us learn to live that way.

Every time we got a bit ahead, the tax rules changed, and this usually coincided with the downturns in our sector’s business cycle, and our out-go for our four children’s college education, etc. So savings got way too frequently depleted carrying us over the lean years, and we really got whacked when they stopped income averaging.

What we have done, defensively, is to constantly tighten our budget and constrain our spending. The reverse mortgage wouldn’t help us much because we built the smallest house you can imagine on a nice piece of relatively rural land.

My husband is a very talented architect, and designed it for our retirement. Very small footprint, energy-wise, and we can heat it with a wood-stove. We have our own well, and now qualify for “senior citizen” property taxes.

Because my husband’s term health insurance will no longer be an option when he turn 70 in September, I think we ought to pay off the mortgage, in the event of the inevitable. Since he has Parkinson’s, I will probably survive him, and not having to make a mortgage payment without the term life insurance available would make me feel much more secure.

But, you know how husbands are.

As they age and become less in control of their professional lives, they stop thinking about these “inevitables”. And, if we truly love them, we won’t remind them of that. We just worry in silence, and hope to find something in the news that “nudges” them in the right direction.

Exactly HOW does Obama intend to stop Chavez’s AK-47’s from entering Mexico??

SO ZERO used a ridiculous study number that even he in his infinite stupidity knew was off by 465% which makes ZERO a knowing LIAR! when using statistics or any other information, a boy-child who can’t be trusted with the most harmless of information, and because of dirty, corrupt people, sits with his wretched fingers on the Nuclear Buttons of Our Nation! NICE!

Thank you, Spunky. This is my intuition as well. The hard part in convincing Himself. All of your comments are helping me to formulate a pleasant presentation of my worries.

He doesn’t like it when I worry. This economic mess we are in is cyclical, nothing to run screaming for the hills over, but one which must be approached with careful planning.

The existing wisdom might not work out very well when the sheet hits the wind, and blows right down off the clothes-line!
