Good points by surfer in #60. In addition, I’d like to toss out a few more ideas.
All politics is local, so I’d like to see various Freepers who will be attending offer to do a little research and talk about their respective congressmen. What’s the status,a nd hope for the district? If it’s a GOP seat..is the person conservative, or a RINO. Safe for 2010? If it’s a Dem seat, is it hopeless, or is there a chance. Is there a viable conservative looking to run in the district?
As for the Senate race....well, I really don’t want to swap one RINO for another. If Christ runs, as looks likely..well, he’ll be heard to beat. He will keep the seat for the GOP..But I do think we need to find, and support, a real conservative who will run against him in the primary..and keep him honest..
Your thoughts about the Governor are well founded. You recognize the futility in a group like this to “buck” the party and get a true conservative candidate.
We have little power to choose candidates except on the local level and State Representatives. These are the National candidates of the future.
“Keeping them honest” is a great comment. They only respond to overwhelming pressure when it effects re-election and sometimes local press and radio. I wish it were otherwise.
We have to keep trying!
We also need to see how we can work with this group and their march on DC in September.
We should be the rallying point for all of Florida. Maybe we can organize buses, etc...
Thanks for the great idea for our Freeper sign in sheet I am preparing. Will be sure to include “US Rep.District”. I can share info concerning my US Rep and sure others can do the same. Freepers in Palm Beach have a great person to support in Alan West! I supported him but couldn't vote for him last time, but he is running again in 2010. :)
