"Who wants to put career on hold for three years to "help" a bunch of lazy American low life?"

An uber-lib friend of mine in NYC once made a big deal of announcing to all of us that she was volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to help fix up homes in the Bronx. So she and a couple dozen libbies showed up to paint a guy's house (she said he seemed around 50-ish and able-bodied). While the volunteers worked their collective asses off in August heat, the guy sat on the front steps drinking lemonade. Didn't offer the volunteers any; just sat there and watched them fix up his house. Nice work if you can get it. Of course, I'm not a poor minority who is unable to help myself.

Your uber-lib friend must be soooo proud of herself. I'll bet she wears that experience on here sleeve everyday to reminder how much better she is than all of us! I know the type very well.
