From 'scrawny' to 'beautiful' (Arnold hearts Barack)
Sacramento Bee ^ | March 19, 2009 | Kevin Yamamura

What a difference an election victory makes.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, at an Ohio campaign rally in October for Sen. John McCain, said then-candidate Barack Obama "needs to do something about those skinny legs. We're going to make him do some squats. And then we're going to go and give him some biceps curls to beef up those scrawny little arms."

But the governor had nothing but love for President Obama on Thursday in Los Angeles, according to Politico.

"But I think he's so smart," he said. "He's so clear with his thinking and he's so well informed and has been dealing with policy in all this and is also very philosophic it's almost like. I think he's just like - I think it's beautiful."

... "The economic stimulus package that President Obama has put together, California is benefiting tremendously from that, $85 billion, $35 billion alone just in tax benefits," Schwarzenegger said in his introduction at a Los Angeles town hall meeting, according to a transcript. "And then there is the economic stimulus package which injects $51 billion into California's economy. That's right, $51 billion into California' economy -- $18.6 billion for health and human services, $9 billion for education, $72 billion for infrastructure, $5.3 billion for labor, $3.4 billion for energy and climate change, $1.2 billion for housing and the list goes on and on and on."

"I tell you, it is the greatest package," Schwarzenegger added. "I am so happy that we are getting those kinds of benefits from the federal government and from President Obama."

WOOOOO HOOOO!!!

Arnold is a FISCAL conservative who is going to BRING THE BUISNESSES BACK and DELIEVER the state to the GOP!!! He's gonna bring the same bad ass, take-no-prisoners attitude on the big screen to BLOW UP THE BOXES and TEAR UP THE CREDIT CARDS!!! He's a small government, free market, MILTON FRIEDMAN follower!!! Once voters see how KEWL Arnold is, they will be open to supporting other Republicans and we will TERMINATE the teachers unions and labor unions and the special interests!!!! Arnold is going to get California back on the track to fiscal sanity and TERMINATE debt!!!!

Of course... that's ONLY possible if the Bustamante supporters here and their hopeless cross-eyed LOSER Tom McClintock drop out of the race and GET BEHIND Arnold!!!! (Obviously the ONLY possible reason McClintock would stay in the race at this point is he's WORKING THE DEMOCRATS and doesn't want a REPUBLICAN victory so we can TAKE BACK CALIFORNIA!!)

You right-wing anti-abortion religious nuts may not like Arnold but at least he's ELECTABLE!!!

=================================================

(Since the former Arnold backers here won't admit it, I thought I'd remind everyone of the kind of attacks they'd hurl at anyone who dared oppose their guy back in 2003)

Yep—that’s the same one I was trying to describe.

Thanks.

Good find, calcowgirl.

That's the nice thing about FR, all this stuff is achived so you can go back and see exactly who said what and whether it came true. I wonder how many Arnoldbots have been pinged now that we know how Arnie turned out to be? Even on that thread you can FR deeply divided over Arnold's "victory" and the realists raining on the Arnoldbots parade starting in posts #7 and #15.

You see alot of arguements on that thread about how California will magically go to Bush in 2004 because 61% of the state voted "Republican" in 2003. Not sure why the Arnoldbot crowd figured it would work out that way. Aside from Tenneesee (where Bush won IN SPITE of the RINO Governor's unpopularity) I can't think of a single state with a RINO governor that voted a Republican President. Indeed, I can't think of any Dem controlled state that gave over 60%+ of its vote to a RINO (or in Arnold's case, 48% to him and the remainder to actual Republican) turning around and voting for a Republican president. It certainly didn't work in Conn. after 64% of the state voted for a RINO in 2000.

I take real offense at the way Arnold supporters labeled anyone who wouldn't get in line with their Austrian socialist from the Kennedy clan of being a "purist". As you know very well, Calcowgirl, I've never been a purist and gotten in many fights with freepers who are purists and want to purge so-and-so 90% conservative (Jon Kyl, Bobby Jindal, etc.) because he voted against them on one bill. I don't want a perfect 100% pure conservative candidate, all I want is a reliable conservative who is with me MOST of the time, and Arnold is far removed from being anywhere near that.

So, any of the former Arnold supporters want to chime in?

================================================

"I've heard that bandied about time and time again about Schwarzenneger from some of the folks here. They also implied that Arnold was a "Trojan horse" candidate who was planted by the Democrats to split the Republican vote and as insurance so that they could still have a liberal even if Davis was recalled. But I'm just not buying it. You think Arnold would have gone along with this? Hell no. Arnold may not be the ideal conservative but he's his own man and he is no puppet of the Democratic Party. The Dems are stunned that he won. This is truly their worst nightmare. For Arnold is in a no-lose situation. He's not a professional politician who owes a million favors to a million different people. He's got a mandate from the people of California and his honeymoon is going to be a lot longer than you think. The people are going to love this guy. Can you imagine Arnold stumping with President Bush during the 2004 election season! The huge crowds and excitement that will surely result will be electrifying. Barring any missteps by Bush himself, Arnold is going to deliver the state for Bush in 2004. I think the Dems are going to "misunderestimate" Arnold as well. This guy is not just an act, he's genuinely tough and he can take whatever these fools dish out to him."

"We are not swapping liberals. The conservative wing lives. Arnold won. Now, we get together and push him to the right. We can do nothing if a RAT is in power. Great news conference going on right now. Arnold talked to W and will be asking for many favors. We will get them."

"Arnold will shine the brightest light these Dems have ever seen and it will scare them into supporting Arnold's reforms. As a governor and one with a real mandate and with huge media attention which will follow his term in office and with lots of money, he'll have four megaphones.For the record, I'm ecstatic that Arnold won. I think he'll help pull Bush over the finish line in close states (where Northern young, middle class suburban voters are more tolerant of liberal social policy, but rock-ribbed GOP on taxes and spending)."

"On a day when I was at a Arnold rally with 4,000 other sreaming Orange County Republicans, Gray Davis was speaking to a crowd of 300. Ten Thousand showed up to see Arnold in Sacramento. Arnold helps Bush in California in a way that NO other Republican could. This is great news for the GOP in the long run and if some conservatives could look further than the end of their nose, they'd see that too."

"This win was a huge one in terms of its margin, and I for one believe it will prove to be huge in terms of its long-term political effects.Perfect articulation. The best summary I have seen, of the recall.Now, if only the McClintock puritans would open their eyes and see this...? Oh, how good life would be. Be well."

And if you live in Houston you can attest to the sinking feeling Texas is being lost right before our eyes as well. The number of transient hispanics roaming around town is become quite shocking. Obama’s hand held out to illegal enterers is doing just the trick. They are coming up double time now with the promise of a vote and stuff on the near horizon. This is so messed up.

I hear ya! And the mass exodus from Mexico is leaving those south of the border living in ghost towns taken over by gun-wielding cartels. I don’t see a happy ending any time in the near future.
