-- It was a brazen assault, not just because it targeted the city's police station, but for the choice of weapon: grenades.
The Feb. 21 attack on police headquarters in coastal Zihuatanejo, which injured four people, fit a disturbing trend of Mexico's drug wars. Traffickers have escalated their arms race, acquiring military-grade weapons, including hand grenades, grenade launchers, armor-piercing munitions and antitank rockets with firepower far beyond the assault rifles and pistols that have dominated their arsenals.
Most of these weapons are being smuggled from Central American countries or by sea, eluding U.S. and Mexican monitors who are focused on the smuggling of semiauto- matic and conventional weapons purchased from dealers in the U.S. border states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

pinging Kelly....thanks for posting this.
NO cheers, unfortunately.
So the lying anti-gun fags have been OUTED! When, and WHERE, will the apology to America’s gun owners and dealers be deliverd?
“Most of these weapons are being smuggled from Central American countries or by sea,...”
There are some Central/South American Nations making pacts with Iran over the past couple of years. Perhaps as Iran is smuggling weaponry into Lebanon, Iraq, Gaza, Afghanistan, etc., etc., they are now smuggling weaponry into those Nations for ultimate destination Mexico, our next door neighbor.
I wouldn’t be surprised to learn their target is actually the USA.
But wait I thought those narcotraficantes bought their guns at Walmart and from that guy in Arizona, thats what Katie CBS said.

This is a pdf. file so I cannot post it here. It has interesting things to say, but the self contradictory paragraph is this one:
Mexican law enforcement authorities and soldiers face heavily armed drug gangs with high-powered military automatic weapons. Perhaps 90% of these weapons are smuggled across the US border.
Of course they do! Everyone KNOWS that "flyover country" and hideous "regular people" stores like Wal-Mart keep the grenade launchers and RPGs in the back, you just have to ask, flash your GOP membership or wear your overalls!
ping!
“acquiring military-grade weapons, including hand grenades, grenade launchers, armor-piercing munitions and antitank rockets “
There is real drama taking place just miles from me. It is times like this that I wished that our newspapers would cover our regional news instead of avoiding it like the plague.
We’re supposed to go to Cabo San Jose mid-April. Can’t get out of it, as it’s a company reward trip. Most are still saying that it is a very safe place to visit and I needn’t be concerned, but I still am.
Telling the Whole Story Ping!
Coming soon to the USSA.
So,a .50 Caliber Barrett is easily smuggled into Mexico?
Why?
Obviously, we need to pass comprehensive hand grenades, grenade launchers, armor-piercing munitions and antitank rockets legislation.
Barry McCaffrey is more politician than General. And he’s
been that way since the Boonie Hat war during Vietnam.
Whatever he says, it’ll be pandering to somebody in power who can do things that benefit Barry McCaffrey.
