Scottsbluff dealership missing three bosses, dozens of cars

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. One by one, somebody loaded new Toyotas onto trucks Monday evening from the Legacy Auto Sales dealership in Scottsbluff and drove off into the night.
Dozens of cars were taken. Now plenty of people, including Scottsbluff police, want to know what's going on.
That includes Legacy employee Miranda Cervantes. She discovered Tuesday morning that the dealership's owner and two other officers had disappeared without a word to the staff. Also gone were more than 80 Ford and Toyota vehicles.
Employees found the desks of owner Allen Patch, comptroller Rachel Feit and general manager Rick Covello empty. Their computers also were gone.
"When I saw that, I knew something just isn't right," Cervantes said.
Scottsbluff Police Capt. Kevin Spencer confirmed that police were investigating removal of the vehicles as a possible crime.
Police said at least 81 vehicles are missing.
Cervantes said the cars disappeared from three lots in Scottsbluff about 25 to 30 Fords and about 50 Toyotas. Police have been unable to contact Patch, Feit or Covello.
Cervantes said Toyota representatives contacted her Tuesday. Someone had reported that a large number of cars were missing from the lot.
"They asked me, 'What is going on there?' I told them everything, that the cars are all gone. . . . We (employees) don't have a clue. Employees were not told of any reason that the vehicles were removed."
You killed my dog mister. He just wanted you to be happy! :)
Probably just moving the team to Indianapolis. That’s how the Colts did it.
I really feel bad for all those Mafia guys. They should of worked for Goldman Sacs, been Treasury officials, GM executives...
But, I guess when you don’t stay in school, you can not steal like the Harvard/Yale guys and get your buds to make it legal. Heck, even Madoff must be feeling like a sucker now. If only he hung on and shut up he could of gotten old Hank Paulson to give him conex of hundreds. Madoff, what a loser.
ROFLMAO! Makes me want to go out and test drive Luke Fuchs’ ‘57 Chevy!
I'm almost afraid to ask...What is a Legacy Employee?
(My expectation is that it's another AA program.)
I think Legacy is the name of the (former) dealership.
Technically speaking, unless the dealership has other investors or loans, doesn’t the business “owner” own all the cars on the lot? I’m not convinced this was a theft. Maybe the owner just decided to move his inventory.
One who commutes to work on an AT bus?
vehicle inventory it almost always financed
the vehicles remain property of the finance company until sold at retail

Chicago.
Faster, safer and they'll never be found.
As you see, seven cars fit on one of these.
For 81 to be hauled that's TWELVE semi's and one heck of a convoy.
And I doubt this deanship OWNED any car haulers so they'd have to be rented, plus the tractors, and a uh ... the DRIVERS. So if the cops can't find this ½ Mile Long convoy, and how it was pulled off in the dead of night, I'd suggest a new line of work for them.
Like in Barry's administration.

Chop Shop.
“doesnt the business owner own all the cars on the lot?”
No. The cars are floorplanned. That is, the autocompany still own the cars until they are sold.
Very likely that they are starting a new dealership and what they did is entirely legal.
What if you drove the vehicles out of town to load them? Two guys each driving a vehicle, one guy follows them to return them to the car lot. It takes some time, but it can be done over a weekend.
Well Grampa, GMTA, I was thinking more on the line of eight or nine car haulers, and how long, and how many people to load that many cars. How difficult can it be to track down car haulers? Just a few hours after the deed is done. And another thing, there were no security or police patrols all night that didn’t see lots of activity. This thing smells.
My guess is they drove many of them off the lot and into storage somewhere. Or they hauled them away and stored them? Or, and I hate to say it, they have been taken to space!
Repo Madness.
You'd better ask that question in Spanish.
“How could these guys expect to fence 80 hot cars?”
...I expect had them already fenced before they stole them....I had a tractor trailer of cargo stolen back in the 80s....the FBI felt the fencing was pre arranged....they later found the trailer stripped and abandoned in Chicago...the tractor was never found.
