So a dozen auto transport trucks pull up in a small town and load 81 vehicles without anyone hearing the loading or seeing the loading and leaving.

What if you drove the vehicles out of town to load them? Two guys each driving a vehicle, one guy follows them to return them to the car lot. It takes some time, but it can be done over a weekend.

They may have used a couple of buses to bring in the drivers to take the cars out to transports.

Driving out 81 cars might have awakened someone.
