Spain will never recognise Kosovo - Zapatero
The Sophia Echo ^ | 11 March 2009 | Clive Leviev-Sawyer

Spanish prime minister Jose Luis Zapatero has reaffirmed that Spain will not recognise Kosovo as independent, newspapers in Kosovo and Serbia reported on March 10 2009.

"Spain's position on the unilateral declaration of Kosovo's independence is known - it is non-recognition," Zapatero was quoted as saying by Kosovo daily Koha Ditore.

"We have maintained this position and we will continue to do so in the future."

Addressing a joint news conference on March 9, Serbian president Tadic said that his country would never recognise Kosovo, which unilaterally declared itself as independent in February 2008.

"Serbia will not give up on its territorial integrity...with legal and diplomatic means, and it will never recognise the independence of Kosovo," Tadic said.

The human rights of Serbs in Kosovo were under threat, he said.

Tadic said that Serbia was very grateful to Spain for its principled stance not to recognise Kosovo, and for its support to Serbia's EU membership candidature.

Zapatero confirmed that Spain supports Serbia's European integration.

A report by Serbia's Blic Online said that Spanish foreign minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, at a meeting with his Serbia counterpart Vuk Jeremic, spoke in favor of unblocking of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between the European Union and Serbia.

Moratinos said Spain would continue to apply pressure so that the Netherlands made possible implementation of the SAA as well as the transitional trade agreement between the EU and Serbia.

The Netherlands has been a leader in opposing the implementation of the SAA until it is satisfied that Serbia is co-operating adequately with The Hague international tribunal on war crimes in the former Yugoslavia

She said ‘American’ and emphasized the taxpayer aspect. I am both.

"For cripe's sake, when will a Serb ever accept responsibility for anything?"

I am an American, born & bred. Family came from Montenegro, not Serbia & had been here almost 100 years.

I am trying to help you understand circumstances -- not to shoulder blame because I never did a damn thing to "accept responsibility" for!

Actually, Serbs had a 600 year plus history of being "Openers of the Gate" for Islam..."

Years ago, Serbs died to save Americans & the West.

Pop Quiz: what were Americans doing in Serbia? Liberating them. You deserve many thanks for saving your liberators.

"My ancestors have nothing to do with Njegos."

That says nothing.

So what are you? Albanian? Bosnian Muslim? Muslim, period? Croat? What?

You didn't flinch or correct when I said that you were Muslim.

"I equate Serb apologists with Serbs."

So Bosnian and Albanian apologists should be called "Muslims"? And "Croat apologists" are automatically "WWII Nazi Ustashi"?

Gee, thanks for the lesson. Before this, I used to just listen to people and decide if they made sense or not, regardless of what they were.

Slava means glory. It’s Slavonic!!!!

I leaned Latin a long time ago, so I know all about “servus”. But equating that with Serb or Slav is an example of a false etymology, since we’re dealing with the Greek and Slavonc world, not the Latin one.

Serbia didn't form Iran you dumb ass and nor did it push the majority of the US population to vote in a Socialist who seems to be muff diving for Iranian forgiveness.

Talk about high horses, US pinheads went to bat for Islam in the Balkans and else where and then cried foul when they brought down the Twin Towers and started beheading Americans... yeah, that is stupid.

I didn't flinch? Do I have my web cam live or something? You say a lot of !@#~$%, I would waste much more time trying to correct you.

Try something else, no ancestors of mine has ever stepped in a mosque.

From the "We lie creatively, imaginatively and inventively" files: when you say your ancestors are Montenegrin, do you think Montenegro is Serbia and what church do you go to? Is it Serbian or Montenegrin?

I wasn't the first person to use the word "apologist" on this thread, for what it's worth. I merely directed it toward the people making excuses for Serbia's kow-towing to Iran.

And for the record, because these threads are replete with short attention spans:

We know you despise the Serbs for standing against the same people who gave us 9/11.

Oops. Serbia, Iran to sign free trade agreement. [link at original]

What do you mean, only Greeks could name the slavs?

Yes, and they are still doing it for Albanians in spite of the fact that four of the Fort Dix 6 were Albanians -- and one was a sniper in Kosovo whose sister was married to a Jordanian.

It's like watching Americans intent on suicide and not being able to stop it.

So, how do you feel about Serbia kow-towing to the Iranians? Apart from shrugging it off?

You still haven't answered the question. A question that I have answered many times on FR, which if you'd been here more than five minutes before you started slinging crap, you'd know.
