'Obama is overwhelmed.' (Obama ally says he's "too tired")
National Review ^ | Sunday, March 08, 2009 | Jim Geraghty

Perhaps it's just some Obama ally speaking out of school. But these are probably some of the most terrifying words to come from an unidentified source in some time:

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

The American source said: "Obama is overwhelmed. There is a zero sum tension between his ability to attend to the economic issues and his ability to be a proactive sculptor of the national security agenda.

"That was the gamble these guys made at the front end of this presidency and I think they're finding it a hard thing to do everything."

It's at moments like this I'm reminded of this assessment of Obama, back in 2007: "I think he can be ready, but right now I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training."

That assessment came from . . . Vice President Joe Biden.

The more Joe talks the less effective he is though. Anything has to be better than B.Hussein, unless its one of his mentors.

I don’t think the “big be all” and “do all” even understood the full measure of the job he wanted so badly.

He had a stunned look the day he had his first security briefing with President Bush. It was commented on on the forum that day.

American voters didn’t check Obama’s credentials and references before voting for him. We who paid attention knew he had no executive experience, had bad references (Ayers, Wright), and a mysterious background. If we treated his campaign for president as a very important job interview, he should have been rejected. Shame on the 53% of American voters who ignored this disaster-in-waiting. We just made a bad hire and this won’t end pretty.

I hope he finally wakes up, but I fear the US is doomed if he is given 4 full years to continue his destruction of American society. I fear an attack on American shores this year and am truly fearful of his response or lack of response. I think the later is probable.

I don't think Pres. Bush payed any attention to the press. Perhaps too little even. But 0bama does as evidenced by his attacks on talk show hosts. Fan of W or not the difference is clear and striking. Bush was mature and professional in his approach to the job of CiC. 0bama acts like a class president in jr. high. It's about him.

I think Pres. Bush understood and accepted, even enjoyed, that the President is a figurehead, not a personality, in many of his duties. It's pretty hard to do those duties well if you're constantly thinking "how does this affect me?"

If that happens, we know he won’t do anything. He will say “we have to understand the terrorists’ rage.” He will then turn his fire on protesting American citizens if we “act up.”

The O-man is at the largest buffet table he has ever seen. He’s trying to eat everything. His cheeks are so full, they’re like two ripe melons. He’s bitten off more than he can chew. It’s getting hard to swallow. Will he spit it out? Will he spray the undigested bits over all his guests? Here O-man, have a big slice of Humble Pie....ooops.

So, he's Mr. Creosote?

How about an after-dinner mint instead? "It's wafer thin."

Whoops.

Obama be a man and resign.

If he loved this country and had even the tiniest bit of humility, I think he would.

“The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.”

Probably one of the few times Joe Biden got anything correct.

I recall a radio interview of Dick Cheney, where he told of a friendly wager he had with President Bush as to who could read the most books in a year. Each of them read well over a hundred, but the President would often joke that “he had a REAL job to do on top of it”!

May be if Obama stopped partying three nights a week, he would have time to do something productive.

Spending time in the Gym is good, but spending working hours there is a no-no. Obama should be in the Oval Office from 8-5 on weekdays when he is not taking trips.

Hey Obama,

You think your job is tough? Your job is easy compared to the work that the men and women you command in Iraq and Afghanistan do. Get a little backbone or turn it over to Biden.

My goodness, what did he think the job would entail, just being able to read the teleprompter ain’t enough.

Exactly!

The best gift to a visitor from another country is something that is unique to our region and that is unique in itself. Could give something historical, but really our history is (1) short compared to England's and (2) the best stuff unfortunately is from when we were at war with THEM.

I was thinking myself along the lines of folk crafts - Shaker box or Appalachian dulcimer, but handmade quilts exactly fit the bill. Traditional American art form, hand made, one of a kind. And you can carry it home on the plane!

What I can't understand is, even if Obama and his wife have absolutely NO class, why their chief of protocol didn't know better. (They DO have a chief of protocol, don't they?)

The only conclusion I can come to is that it was a deliberate insult.

Obama's qualifications:

1. Spent 143 days as a US Senator (before abandoning to run for POTUS)

2. Can read a teleprompter

3. Became a fad for the ignorant masses

Maybe one day we will read about an un-announced trip Airforce One makes to the Kenyan capital, then find out later the POTUS went over the hill, back to his roots.

Obama be a man and resign.

And let Biden be President? Oh no. Our problems are bigger than one unqualified fool who was arrogant enough to think he could shuck and jive the whole world. We need for our entire political class to "resign" (and maybe do a little jail time).

In the early 1990s Italy experienced what were called "The Tangenti Scandals" in which about 1/3rd of the Italian parliament and over 2500 other nationally prominent citizens found themselves under indictment for corruption. Most of the major political parties, including the socialists and the communists - which may explain why it's so hard to find any information on the scandals online, simply collapsed and were replaced by new parties.

We need that here.
