Suspected IRA dissidents opened fire on British troops and pizza delivery men outside a Northern Ireland army base, killing two soldiers and wounding four other people. Police said Sunday the attackers fired on their victims again as they lay wounded on the ground.

Its callousness, in targeting soldiers and civilians alike, appeared calculated to inflame community tensions and undermine Northern Ireland's Catholic-Protestant administration.
"The whole country is shocked and outraged at the evil and cowardly attack," British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said in London. "I assure you that we will bring these murderers to justice. No murderer will be able to derail a peace process that has the support of the people of Northern Ireland."
In Dublin, the Irish government said virtually nobody in either part of Ireland wanted to rekindle a conflict that left more than 3,700 dead. Leaders pledged greater security cooperation with British security forces in the north to catch and imprison the dissidents, who are strongest along the Irish border.
"Violence has been utterly rejected by the people of this island, both north and south," said Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen. "A tiny group of evil people cannot, and will not, undermine the will of the people of Ireland to live in peace together. "

It would be indeed be a dark day in history if this became commonplace in the US.
But would America in majority agree with its so called “freedom fighters” ?
Do you really believe that? Or are you just desperate to save your argument?
"Islamic radicals" would get a lot more bang for their buck an hour away in the UK.
Ireland ping!

Give me Cork, Kilarney or Limerick any day.
This kind of stuff happens when the economy tanks. Look at Mexico. What will our people do when they don’t have jobs and still have to feed their families?
If you are following world events you may have noticed a growing push against socialism.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
You’re welcome, and he’s been right about the IRA all along.
Those photos are very enlightening. It seems that N.Ireland has its share of terrorist sympathizers, too.
In fact, this recent attack may be the work of Jihadists.
This is carved in stone over one of the entrances to the DOJ in DC.
“Repression breeds violence”
Over another door it reads,
“Where justice ends, tyranny begins”
The question to ask yourself is do any of these sayings apply to conservatives right now in America?
And if so, what are we to do about it?
Murdering soldiers is fighting against socialism....
You’re already worthless point is rendered even more so by the fact that the Irish Republicans who did so are almost certainly hardcore socialists themselves...
Most people in Northern Ireland wish to remain in the UK. As such, your opinion on the matter counts for jack s**t....
Irish republicans are divided into many factions. Almost all of them socialist to one degree or another. The Irish National Liberation Army is probably the most left wing of these....
Speaking of which, is Ted Kennedy dead yet?
I actually enjoyed Scotland more than I did Ireland.
Scotland is definitely on my list of places to go, someday.
