Unbelievable, isn't it?
Commentary ^ | March 8, 2009 | Jennifer Rubin

The Washington Post editors notice that the economy is a mess and getting worse. And they sound miffed:

And yet for the past several days, Washington has been consumed by the point-scoring possibilities of a flap over commentator Rush Limbaugh. It is almost unbelievable that grown men and women in government, of either party, are spending time and energy on this. The whole world is watching, counting on Washington for leadership. The president and lawmakers of both parties must provide it.

Let’s put aside the naked hypocrisy for a moment and ignore the number of stories the Post ran on this subject, (and on page one no less). The editors use a passive voice — “Washington has been consumed” — which deserves further scrutiny. Wasn’t it Obama’s political hit men who cooked up the scheme to Limbaugh-ize the GOP? Wasn’t it Gibbs and Rahm Emanuel who egged on reporters? It is not the Republicans who are claiming Limbaugh should be crowned head of the party. To the contrary the GOP’s elected leaders have been imploring the media to get back to the economy, the grotesque omnibus spending bill, and, frankly, the president’s cluelessness about the market crash.

So if they had wanted to be accurate, the editors should have written:

And yet for the past several days, the Obama administration has been consumed by the point-scoring possibilities of a flap over commentator Rush Limbaugh. It is almost unbelievable that grown men and women in government, are spending time and energy on this. The whole world is watching, counting on Washington for leadership. The president and lawmakers of both parties must provide it.

That’s plainly what is going on.

The convenient diversion is to keep obama’s failed plan off the news and the msm is more than happy to help him.

"Commence immediate investigations into any and all possible cases of "economic treason and malfeasance" being committed against the American people, with harsh punishments for all found guilty."

Love this one the most, the rest of your proposals are also very good.

Great profile page as well.

re: until a certain pain threshold is reached, people will give O a lot of slack

Isn’t that true of any endeavor in life? Only a very few among us have the ability to learn from the mistakes of others. For the majority of us it has to hit home before we take it to heart. And even then for a lot of us it has be happen several times before we learn the lesson.

That threshold will be when gas is back up to $4 a gallon and a loaf of bread has doubled. So far life hasn’t changed a whole lot for the many Americans. That’s not going to be the case forever.

Well, when we DO get someone who can lead, does a good job and is what we like (Palin and Jindal) the GOP eats their own. Or sits back and lets the DNC pound the crap out of them.

Too true.

Jindal & Palin. Hmmm . . .

Would an effort by the 'loyal oppositioin', trying to articulate a counter-proposal now do any good? Or would it just get swallowed up in the noise, discounted by the Obamedia, vilified as just, 'naysaying'?

What, you wouldn't let Ponzi-schemers keep their $12 mil apartments? You absolutist, you!

I'll believe there's some effort toward justice for the economic travesties when I read that Madoff's rotting corpse has been cut down from a Wall Street lightpost.

So, are you ready to join the "Tea Party"? :)

I would ONLY support a party that has all of the above AND who dissolves (or severely restricts) all unions. I’d also like to see a Capitalist educational system. Attach a set amount of money to each child and let the parents pick the school. Let every school run themselves like a business and advertise for our lil darlings.

I say we go for it...

Sarah Palin and Bo Derek in 2012...

That way we remove all doubt, and still come out looking pretty good...
