A federal judge on Thursday threw out a lawsuit questioning President Barack Obama's citizenship, lambasting the case as a waste of the court's time and suggesting the plaintiff's attorney may have to compensate the president's lawyer. In an argument popular on the Internet and taken seriously practically nowhere else, Obama's critics argue he is ineligible to be president because he is not a "natural-born citizen" as the Constitution requires. In response last summer, Obama's campaign posted his Hawaiian birth certificate on its Web site. But the lawsuit argues it is a fake and that Obama was actually born in his father's homeland of Kenya, even though Hawaiian officials have said the document is authentic. "This case, if it were allowed to proceed, would deserve mention in one of those books that seek to prove that the law is foolish or that America has too many lawyers with not enough to do," U.S. District Judge James Robertson said in his written opinion. The lawsuit didn't even use Obama's legal name but called him "Barry Soetoro," the name he went by while attending elementary school in Indonesia. It's one of many that has been filed claiming Obama is ineligible to serve as president. Robertson ordered plaintiff's attorney John Hemenway of Colorado Springs, Colo., to show why he hasn't violated court rules barring frivolous and harassing cases and shouldn't have to pay Obama's attorney, Bob Bauer, for his time arguing that the case should be thrown out.

Lol, I guess they still are, or in Kenya, Indonesia....
So how exactly could those births have been deemed to take place in the United States, given that the polity going by that name did not even come into existence until 1776?
There has got to be a John Adams in every single one of us, if we are to prevail.
LOL. As much as I love the idea of John Galt, what North America needs is more John Adams'.
Sorry for the pontification. :-)
Thank you Lucy.
Because they were not foreign born. They had loyalty to this soil and not England. Their loyalty was not divided. You should stick to economics.
You’re forgiven. And agreed with!
Sadly, I don’t believe there is anyone now that compares with the Founding Fathers. They were men of vision and honor. Smart too. lol
I don't think the article you posted from Townhall is a quality legal argument and it's not even very well written. It would be nice to see a better review of the meaning of "natural born" from someone who knows how to do Supreme Court level legal and historical research.
I'm open to the possibility that Obama is ineligible. But I don't think that your argument or that of the article would be sufficient to prove this in court.
You may have heard that Chester A. Arthur's father was not only born in Ireland, but was not even a citizen when Arthur became president. Maybe Arthur should not have been president, but for some reason questions about this always revolved around his possible birth in Canada rather that his father's citizenship - until this year.
Gee thanks for signing up today to educate us!
Welcome to FR.
No it doesn't matter where Jindal was born he is NOT NATURAL BORN because neither of his parents were US citizens, and as mush as I like him he cannot be President.
What if Vladimir Putin and his wife came to the US and while visiting Ms. Putin had a baby,
by this logiic that child would be "natural born" and could be POTUS.
PREPOSTEROUS LOGIC
THAT says all you need to know.
Ladies and Gentlemen. The seat belt sign has come on in the cabin. We're experiencing a little turbulence...
Yep. Another Clinton Klingon.
And if I may, IMHO, were God given :)
I think it is very clear. Every President was born on this soil. In the beginning, their parents were not. The Founders did not want a President with divided loyalties. They had proved themselves and suffered to form a united nation. Later Presidents wouldn’t have that kind of proof.
When did this take place? News to me.
The document is authentic. Obama is not.
On Oct 31, Hawaii's DOH Director anounced to the world that they had "Obama's original birth certificate ON RECORD"
"Hello, Dr. Onaka? Was Obama really born in Hawaii?"

It was just another nonstatement by the O-bureaucratics.
I believe that. They were men that created a nation both blessed by God.
There ain't a chance in hell that Bob Bauer or Joe Sandler (another Obama attorney representing him in BC matters) are working pro bono. Cut the condescension and get a clue.
And a fake one, too!!
Of course; anyone who thinks this is a waste of time that could be spent on more productive ventures is obviously just a liberal, Obama-loving troll, right?
Do you see how you’ve become a carbon-copy of a 9/11-truther? You think anyone who thinks your actions are fruitless and the evidence far too weak to make it in court is just part of the enemy, part of the conspiracy. “They don’t believe in the conspiracy; they’re obviously working for Them!”
If you read my post, you would see that I advocate taking productive action. You’re not going to shove this through court, period. So we should start initiatives to get legislators to pass laws requiring any potential candidate to produce their BC. If we get a federal law passed, there’s a .0001% chance that we can retroactively force Barry to produce his BC, and then we can know the truth.
And a troll, by definition, is a poster who is solely posting for the purpose of being polemical, with no interest in engaging in a reasoned exchange with other posters. I’m not doing that; I’m just engaging in this debate and expressing an opinion that I think is productive in regards to the discourse occurring in this forum. Keep in mind that you’re the one who is not posting anything substantive. “Being-And-Time is teh Troll n00b” does not add anything to this debate—in fact, it resembles trolling much more than my comments, unfortunately.
I would address your sarcasm but any and all posts I submit in my defense do not make it to this thread for whatever reason.
So I’ll just say thank you for the welcome, even if you meant it to be venomous, and hope this reply is at least approved.
