Sen. Dick Durbin, who advised Sen. Roland Burris last week to step down from the Senate, acknowledged today that racial considerations were at play in the decision by majority Democrats to seat Burris.
Durbin, a fellow Democrat and Illinois' senior senator, noted that Rep. Bobby Rush, a Chicago Democrat, appeared at Gov. Rod Blagojevich's announcement of his appointment of Burris and used racially charged language to defend the appointment.
"My colleague from Illinois, Congressman Bobby Rush, made strong statements along those (racial) lines," Durbin said on WGN-AM (720). "They were painful and hurtful, and it became part of this calculation."

It seems like whenever a black gets into an office they feel like it belongs to blacks only. What happened to the “content of our charachter” stuff?
In other words, Durbin admits to being a wimp. We already knew that, because he is a modern democrat, but it's nice that he knows it too. We wouldn't want to accidentally promote a gutless wimp who gives in to trivial threats ... not to the White House ... not when we already have four years of ... oh, never mind.

I don’t even know why Turban is bitching about it, other than grandstanding on an issue that will grind to a halt because Burris isn’t going anywhere. Burris is a typically corrupt, left-wing dem who will always, without question, support the party. There won’t be a “special election” unless the candidates of both parties (an acceptably weak GOPer to serve as the sacrificial lamb against the dem candidate) are vetted by the Chicago political machine.
In other words, the Democrats are cowards. And they’re running Congress.
I predict Obama’s Senate seat will now be the “black” seat. Nobody but an African-American will be allowed to fill it.
The only thing that matters to dems IS the color of the skin, since they have no "character." As long as they're the right color, AND cowtow to the leftist orthodoxy, that's all the "qualification" they need.

Tell us something we DIDN’T know already! LOL.
Had the situation been identical, but had Burris been European-American, (white!) would he have been seated? NO.
Gee, another Democrat judging someone based on the color of his skin rather than the content of his character. Who knew?
Kind of like if a Muslim call to prayer has ever gone out over a land, that land is considered in perpetuity to be "Muslim land".
