The political reality at the moment is that regardless of the wisdom or foolishness of what is or will be proposed by the Obama administration or Congress in the next two years, it will pass. This is the consequence for the GOP of losing elections and losing them big in both 2006 and 2008....

10th amendment movement - it’s the only earthly salvation for liberty.
Problem is everywhere I look I see and hear people wanting to protest but are afraid to break a law.
Especially here at FR.
A truly honorable protest WILL be breaking the law, a peaceful “kumbaya” series of protests won’t make the MSM blink.
It takes protests and initiatives that will demonstrate the will to deny key parts of the government from achieving certain goals.
25 states passing sovereignty resolutions would be a start.
Then the first state that refused to enforce a federal law would likely be the precursor to another shot heard round the world.
I still want his head...
Fartknocking B@&+@R&... Yes I am violating the Reagan 11th commandment. He sent up plenty of pork, built an off ramp on land his wife owned and made millions and his CD/DVD selling kid gets a job as a lobbyist making over 100 large. With leadership like this, we deserve to wander in the desert for another 40 years....
I know I get real fed up with the federal govt. telling us how and what to do.
Just like this magic negro making it so you can’t stand on your moral beliefs if you are a doctor and are against abortion.
I still want his head, I meant politically as a metaphor...
God forbid...we actually brainstorm and execute a battle-plan against a racist UnAmerican enemy.......the MSM, the Democrat Party and their Fuhrer.
I know I get real fed up with the federal govt. telling us how and what to do.
Just like this magic negro making it so you can’t stand on your moral beliefs if you are a doctor and are against abortion.
And we were going to “grow” out of the deficits created by Medicare part D and other entitlement spending.
The MSM is the ratchet that drives the country to the left. Even the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan would have been popular except for the MSM trying to daily sell defeatism and cooperate with our enemies.
We must find a way around the MSM. Rush is good, but not enough. I do not think the MSM is imploding fast enough. I am open to suggestions.
Pretty much agree with you on that one.
Hand-wringing and finger pointing doesn’t accomplish much.
Much better response is, well it’s happened. What are we each going to do about it?
Sheesh.
>That was a serious problem but you really believe that’s the ONLY problem?
Of course not. That would take an entire book, not a 20 second post.
Thank you for your post - bill
Again, no. - Although I understand the overarching point that you are making.
All of those were simple excuses, projected as rational reasons, when the underlying dynamic was opined plainly and simply in 2004
“Anyone but Bush.”
It has simply morphed back into the more generic “Anyone but any republican.”
And Thats the way it is.
You can't beat a democrat nobody with a GOP nobody. - Period.
His TARP bailout was the final wakeup for me, one of many. I finally understood that Sept 11 was a gift from God to Bush, and to some degree republicans. For a short time everyone turned to Bush for protection and leadership. He had a blank check. At this point he decided that HE knew things others didn't, that he was really special and he showed arrogance in many statements (That his fans saw as strength, longing for a hero, including me.) But that arrogance was a flaw, not a strength. And God, or fate, has a way of making us pay for for arrogance. The democrats set his sites on him for 5 years with outright hatred, and when things started to go badly the public, who was never enthused about Iraq to begin with ,and trusted him on it, were in democrats hands and turned sharply against him. Eventually Bush became more than an object of hatred but a gift to democrats, and a curse to us. And then.. your last post sums it up.
I don’t mind people complaining about Medicare part D— though it did cost less than projected..
Complaining about NCLB is foolish for several reasons:
1. Democrats still say NCLB is underfunded.
2. The bill gives local control to education in a strong and meaningful way. That is the essential conservative principal necessary for some day undoing the massive damage being done to our society by public education (FYI my three children are in public schools).
3. The nationalized standards for education regarding reading and math which compel more education to actually take place in schools.
So, yes NCLB was necessary and has been a tremendous help to me as a conservative parent dealing with my public schools.
They said Hitler was unstoppable too. I say keep fighting. He’s making the same mistakes Hitler did too - opening up too many battle fronts too quickly.
