Via Snapped Shot and STACLU comes news that Iowa state officials have banned the use of tea by Tea Party protesters holding an event tomorrow in Cedar Rapids.
The tea violates environmental standards because it will discolor the water:
A Cedar Rapids group will do a symbolic tea dumping into the Cedar River on Saturday because state officials wont let them use the real thing.
An anti-tax group wanted to pitch in real tea like the Bostonian revolutionaries opposed to Englands tea taxes.
Tea, although natural and quite tasty, is considered a pollutant that cant go into a body of water without a permit, said Mike Wade, a senior environmental specialist at the DNRs Manchester field office.
Discoloration is considered a violation, Wade said. What would our Founding Fathers say?
I'd do that, and also have someone a couple of miles upstream unload many, many cans of ice tea mix. F'em - the whole point is to demonstrate against too much government, so it is either violate the law or stay home.
Does ANYONE think that it was lawful for those "Indians" to dump a shipload of tea into Boston harbour? COME ON - the whole POINT is to break the law.
I was thinking DNR-Forestry.
You mean my craving for sugar is caused by the tea I drink? I am doomed! LOL!!! :^(
Dump away or the Tea Party movement ends because of a bunch of cowards. Are we really going to let the central planning leeches tell us what to do?
They'say this "tea party" is merely feel-good symbolism that while providing a diversion for the
media on a typically non-news day, will do nothing to persuade those who hold the reins of power -
The One and the democRAT/RINO infested Congress.
Now maybe if all across the country, public officials were tarred and feathered, including
environmental bureaucrats, and their automobiles and SUV's rolled over and thrown in rivers...
British officials fleeing from rioting colonists expressing revolutionary sentiments in opposition to the Stamp
Act imposed by British Parliament with object of raising revenue in America.
Tea no good? How about we wait until July 4 and then dump the stuff in their backyard pools?
And how about we use cater-sized bags of tomato paste instead of tea bags?
LOL. No, I was referring to the P at the end. That’s what all tea comes to.
IF ONLY THE BRITISH HAD THOUGHT OF THIS!!!!
I kinda feel the same way about the Presidency.
Sorry, I sometimes can’t see the forest for the trees blocking the view. LOL!!!!
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. — C. S. Lewis
I agree and that is why I never use water in my tea. I more often than not use a couple shots of Knob Creek.
Dump the tea anyway.
I agree, Dump the tea anyway.
LOL! Any time you need governmental cooperation with a revolt, it kind of takes the edge off. Make mine hot chocolate.
The group in Cedar Rapids is protesting a 1-cent local option sales tax to go before voters Tuesday. Most of the money (17-18 million forecast) is to go for housing assistance and buyouts of homes that were destroyed BY THE RIVER!?!? in the June 2008 flood.
I don’t think a little tea is going to hurt the river.
Now they’ve forbidden it, it’s our bounden duty to dump tea.
Not only should tea be dumped now the protesters should get a LOT more of it now to protest the banning of tea being dumped.
