Vanity post, yes, but I have to wonder about the sound breaks in Bobby Jindal's rebuttal talk tonight and why they were there. I've never seen this before in years of watching these things, and it seemed almost deliberate. Does anybody know which network controlled the pool feed tonight on Jindal's response?
Besides, we’re in the fight of our lifetime for freedom in this country and whoever wrote this speech was not in-country for at least two years, obviously.
Where was the offense, for Christ’s sake?
You’d think 0bama’s aim was not to gut our capitalist system and raise up socialism and slavery-to-the-state.
You’d think it was just another day in political America.
It is bizarre and totally out of touch.
I would agree with you had I seen only a hint of gravitas or the beginnings of something like a Barry slayer—it isn’t there—he WILL NOT BEAT THE KENYAN.
And he WAS. Numbers wise, the vast majority of his audience tonight were American Idol watchers whose mental capacity is not much greater than that of 6 year olds.
I really doesn’t matter about the Sound Breaks. I watched the Obamanation on TV and listened to Jindal’s response on XM. I found both experiences quite disheartening.
First of all, histrionic Pelosi and goofy Biden were a huge distraction. Obama didn’t have a chance with either his message or his two moronic stooges sitting in the background.
Jindal’s message was sophomoric. He may be a great Governor and a nice guy, but, he isn’t ready for prime time. If this is the GOP’s new leadership, they are in deep doo doo!
No, he wasn’t that bad. I’m sick of all the Jindal bashing on FR tonight. He was okay. He can work on improving his delivery. I’m sure he was nervous. He’s no worse than anybody else I’ve seen deliver the rebuttal over the years.
He has the requisite substance to lead and that’s what is important. Superficials are just that and can be polished like diamonds in the rough.
Well, seems to me that Patriots have to deliver a message directly that can't be ignored.
One thing I’ve noticed about Obama is that he has lost his touch. The hypnotic effect and soaring rhetoric is gone. I wonder if he changed speechwriters or doesn’t go to the same efforts he did on the campaign to maintain the spell (only half joking with the term).
There’s no swoon factor, no oohs and aahs. He’s boring.
When did we become the amateur hour party?
And how has he turned my home state of Louisiana “completely around?”
When we decided to throw all the “old white guys” overboard. Young talent needs time and experience to be seasoned. Jindal will be fine.
I like Bobby and the Bobby we saw tonight is not the same Bobby I have seen in person and many times of TV. Tonight was all but an embarrassment for the governor.
The problem that Gov. Jindal has is that Louisiana is far more broken than any other state in the Union. The problems range from mass corruption to an infrastructure that resemble of third world country. And yes, I have lived on Louisiana and in the third world.
And while Jindal did cut state income taxes, the fact is that Louisiana, unlike Texas still has an income tax. Not only does Louisiana have an income tax but also has sales tax on all items including food and there is also a property tax.
He has tried to reform ethics at the State House, Baton Rouge is still run by lobbyists. I think Louisiana is now the only state where lobbyists are still permitted on the House and Senate floors while votes are taking place.
And while Jindal may invite business to Louisiana, there have been few takers of that offer. The primary problems with attracting businesses to Louisiana are the corruption, the lack of infrastructure and an educational system that is among the worse in the nation.
I have great hopes for Jindal but progress in going to very slow in Louisiana. He is doing a great job but by no means is the state turned around.
*Poof*. You're colored curious.
I was watching MSNBC to catch the "financial responsibly summit" a couple of days ago, and it took them two or three tries over the first few minutes of Obama's speech to get the sound right. They fixed it just as McCain stood up to speak from the audience...
It happens. Sometimes/often it really is just what it looks like it is
I’m with you....I’m sick of all the Jindal bashing also! When you are dealing with all the whah whah’s that act like babies it was necessary for him to talk baby talk to them....that’s all they can understand, anything else would have been way over their pointed pin heads!
One thing about it, Jindal was very clear about what he said! When you consider ‘How BO got elected’, now that’s enough to make a grown-up cry! They could not give a correct answer to the interviewer when asked pertinent questions about BO, Biden, etc. to save their cotton-pickin’ hides......they just voting blindly probably because they were bought off by ACORN. But, they sure knew that Palin’s daughter was pregnant.....that was the only answer they got right!
No there were a lot on FR that also joined with the MSM in dogging Palin, The GOPBots do not want actual conservative competition against their RINOs...
Great review of Jindal tonight

Pollgasm: Joint Session Reaction
The numbers: 68% of viewers said they had a positive reaction, compared to 24% negative. And an astonishing 85% said the speech made them feel more optimistic about the direction the country is headed in (though granted, feeling more optimistic than before might be a low bar), and only 11% said it made them more negative. And 82% of speech-watchers say they support Obama's economic plans as outlined in the speech, with only 17% against.
The positive reaction numbers, as CNN warns, are fairly typical of initial joint session speeches.
But the economic numbers? 82 percent? That's a crapload of radical communists.
