CAIRO: The French teenagers on a school trip had finished a day touring Cairo's 650-year-old Khan el-Khalili bazaar, a place to stock up on trinkets or soak up the atmosphere of ancient mosques hidden in winding alleyways. They were gathering in the bazaar's main square to board their bus back to the hotel - then the bomb went off.
A homemade bomb was hidden under a stone bench in the square, the Egyptian government said Monday. A 17-year-old girl from the French school group who was sitting on the bench was killed, and 24 other people were wounded, most of them her fellow students.
The blast Sunday night was the first attack targeting foreigners in Egypt in three years, and it quickly raised fears of a blow to the country's vital tourism industry, which is already suffering from the global economic downturn.
It also shocked the Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret, hometown of the more than 40 high school students who were on a tour of Egypt. "We are faced with a dreadful drama," the town's mayor, Patrick Balkany, told France's RTL radio on Monday.
The teens had spent the day wandering Khan el-Khalili's narrow alleys. The market is usually packed with tourists and Egyptians who buy trinkets from shops that sell everything from belly-dance outfits to Pharaonic statues or drink tea and smoke water pipes at the numerous cafés.
At 6:45 p.m., it was time to head back to the hotel, and the students gathered in the square in front of one of Cairo's most revered shrines, the Hussein mosque, said one of the students, her leg bandaged for shrapnel wounds.

Because of Muslim immigration this will eventually be a regular event around the world.
Islam = Cult of Death
Our prayers go out to the victims and their families.
“may have been carried out by extremists”
When are these naive Europeans going to wake up and smell the extreme danger they are facing?

Islamo-fascism has struck again. This time the victims are innocent teenagers from France on a High School study and sightseeing trip.
The wounded included 17 French people, 3 Egyptians, 3 Saudis and a German tourist, Radi said, according to the state news agency MENA. At least 13 of the French students were wounded, most of them slightly by shrapnel and flying glass. But three remained in intensive care in an Egyptian hospital Monday.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Several experts on Islamic militants said the bombing may have been carried out by extremists angry at what some in the Arab world saw as an ineffective response by Egypt to Israel’s offensive in the Gaza Strip.
The only real tragedy-an innocent dying before their time. My best for this young lady and her family.
Prayers.
The Religion of Pieces strikes again!
The Egyptian Government relies nearly 100% (always has) on Tourism. They will catch and put-away the minority of terrorist troublemakers. Do not let this type of incident stop you from vising one of the most interesting countries on the globe. Incredible place.
RIP.

SNIPPET: “CAIRO, Feb. 23 (UPI) — Bombers targeted a French school trip to Cairo when they attacked a popular tourist site in which a 17-year-old French girl died, officials said.”
SNIPPET: “”Three people there were arrested on the site as suspects after the attack,” a police official said. “Others are being questioned as witnesses.””
Condolences to the family and friends of the young lady of 17.
I’m sorry, but I won’t visit any Muslim controlled area until Islam wakes up and finally realizes that they need to moderate themselves.
Thanks Cincinna.
If this had happened in Israel, there’d be campus demonstrations all over the US by various leftists, Muzzies, and other Jew-haters, and the student’s picture would be carried alongside Rachel Corrie’s.
