I really like Jim DeMint. One thing he is looking for is a strong governor or two.
States need to stop putting their hands out to the federal government and start pushing it away, DeMint figures -- and maybe start questioning some of the modern dogma that says the feds can prevent offshore drilling, or withhold gas tax money or inject themselves as much as they want in education, health care and other issues.
Don't hold your breath.
The sad fact is, the people who understand American freedom can't rely on their leaders anymore.
"Really, I think the hope right now is not in Congress to make the right decision, cause they're not," DeMint says. "It's just whether or not the American people are going to stand up and say enough is enough.
"People don't need to look to Washington. It's the people's government. And the people are going to have to take it back. They can do it with their voices and with their votes -- and they may have to do it with their legs. People are going to have to show that they're not going to take it anymore."
By "legs," he means what you think he does.
Demonstrations.
Noting the tactics of left-wing organizations such as Code Pink, which like to send handfuls of noisy people to a lawmaker's office, DeMint suggests such things do get the attention of congressmen and senators.
"I think some of these folks might think twice if they had several hundred people standing outside one of their state offices asking, 'What in the world are you thinking?' "
If that doesn't work, there's plenty of room on the boulevard.

He thinks like us.
Maybe we need to borrow a page from their own playbook. Remember this?
“Thousands march for immigrant rights” (Illegals march in the streets)
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/05/01/immigrant.day/index.html
They boycotted “all aspects of commerce, including going to work and school.”
They dubbed it “A Day Without Immigrants”.
Maybe we need to do our own version and dub it
“A DAY WITHOUT TAXPAYERS”
and protest what it going on in D.C. and in our states by getting as many taxpayers as we can to not go to work (thus a loss of income tax for the gobermint). Instead, we could bombard D.C. with phone calls and faxes and emails telling them what we think of the new “Change” to our Constitutional rights and how we feel about Taxation Without Representation.
The same day take kids out of public schools for the day (the loss of millions to hundreds of millions to the gobermint schools) to protest the Feds injecting themselves as much as they want in education and in our local districts.
We could also add a “No Buy” for that week. Take away the sales tax and revenues for 7 days.
Whatever we do, the time for action is now!
Ha! I just posted this. Didn’t find it in a search. Great minds...
IMO, we need marches on Statehouses across the country...SOON..in early march.
Folks on this thread have mentioned the Solidarity movement and the illegal alien movement. Their successful protests were driven by a Spanish speaking radio personality out of s. California. We need the same...only someone to get on board who’s broadcasts are heard across the country. If we had someone on board like that, then Hannity and Beck could pick up on it as well.
Conservatives aren’t used to organizing at the same levels our opponents do and we don’t have time to get as ‘involved’ in planning. If it takes place at the Statehouses, all we need is a date and a powerful voice to get the message out.

I don't think so, I think Washington is now so out of touch with us citizens that there is nothing we can do or say that would change their minds other than vot them out of office. And I don't think that will happen either......
Has anyone noticed the increasing frequency of Congressional hearings over things they have no business sticking their noses into? Most notably being the steroid circus........and now a call for hearings on that peanut company and the salmonella thing.......
I think they are becoming increasingly drunk and addicted on their own sense of importance and power.......
This is an excellent read from a senator who really gets it. I agree with other posters that we need some big names (like DeMint, Palin and others) to get the ball rolling. There needs to be organization on a massive scale and we do need to move NOW. We can’t afford the luxury of time as the Obama Admin. continues to push through their Socialist agenda at break-neck speed. We best move before the Obamanation gets his civilian militia recruited and trained. And the organizers of such a mass movement need to get all the conservative groups rallied to the cause.
ping
Yes, he does. Too bad some of us didn't listen to him when it counted. We might have had Romney/DeMint right now instead of this Obamanation.
"I believe that he is exactly the leader America needs to secure our future. Americans are tired of the same old ideas that keep coming out of Washington. They are hungry for a leader who will draw on Americas strength. I would like Governor Romney to know that key Republicans like you want him to run for President." ("Jim DeMint's Letter Endorsing Mitt Romney," Human Events, 1/09/2007); (Listen to Romney for President featuring Sen. DeMint: "Stop Spending")
________________
I hope people listen to him now.
So, where do we go to also protest Bush’s Big Banker Bailout? Where do we protest the massive prescription medicine welfare plan enacted under Bush? If we have ANY hope of fixing this fast sprint into the socialist morass, we have to oppose ALL socialist programs, not just the ones that the Democrats are promoting. We have to hold Democrats and Republicans alike responsible - hold all their feet to the fire. It seems that the only time that the Republican party opposes government expansion and socialist welfare programs is when the Democrats are in power. How about they start opposing it ALL the time, not just when they think they can use it as a political baseball bat with which to bludgeon the Democrats in power.
Action Ping!
I’ve been blessed with being a constituent and campaigner for the late Senator Jesse Helms in NC, and I’m now a supporter for Senator Jim DeMint in SC. I think he’s telling the truth when he says he’s not looking for a face on the movement right now — his or anyone elses. I love Sarah Palin, but if DeMint were to run, I doubt I could vote against him.
Of course, this assumes we’ll have elections in 2012! I think it’s likely, but the possibility exists that we won’t, or if we do, they won’t matter (The census in the White House will allow Dems to Gerrymander themselves a PERMANENT majority and governing bloc).
It’s time for Patriot’s to move, to do SOMETHING. Support the State SOvereignty movement, stand up AND speak up! Demonstrate, call the folks in Washington, write letters to the editor, protest — if necessary, civil disobedience. Perhaps that could prevent much more severe and less peaceful eventualities...
BTTT
Maybe GOE and Free Republic can sync of with these people who are organizing a march on DC this May:
http://www.resistnet.com/group/wethepeoplemarchonwashington
I’ll be there...let’s roll.
Historically, the federal government has been about 18 percent of the gross domestic product. By next year, it could grow to nearly 40 percent,
If anyone has any doubts, those 18 and 40% figures, are consumption, of gross domestic product not production. Government is the big consumer of our production. So, the economy does not grow, business does not grow, jobs are not created, other than to manage the government consumption, and the people work for the government not for themselves and family.
DeMint Ping.
Reinforcement Ping.
Ping. Run with this.
