They are giving the same instructions as they did for the shuttle - if you see anything in your yard, don't touch it and call authorities.

One would infer from the article that the residents might have heard the collision. This is doubly impossible, as it was in space and over Siberia.

That said, I'm sure something reentering could make a boom and leave debris.

Yeah, but the debris reentering the atmosphere will.

How does it take from Tuesday to Sunday for the sound and debris to make noise and fall from space?

It did, but some of the bits are now reentering the atmosphere.

In a conference call to local reporters, the FAA said they believe the cause of the explosion is two satellites that collided in space Tuesday.

Oh come on folks that's just the cover story. The real story is our SDI defense network took out a UFO.

I’m really surprised Bari hasn’t already made the wear of helmets mandatory.

When satellites smash into one another, they can spread debris across a number of orbital paths. Think of how wide the debris field was for Columbia.

We were flying to Miami Friday and got a NOTAM from ATC warning of possible debris from the sattelite collision. We were told to report any signs of debris re entry. Thankfully we didn’t see any!
