Why stop there?
We use sunlight, as well.
Tax that on a per capita basis.
Do*cheb*g! Wait til the public realizes how much their standard of living is going to drop. And by “people”, I include the lawyers, academics, and other wealthy white collars that make up the Empty Zero’s base.
Budget shortfall? No problem. just extract a few more pounds of flesh (carbon tax) from The One’s royal subjects.
I would be rofl if I weren’t crying uncontrollably
Yeah, that’s just what we need in the midst of a severe recession/potential catastrophe (Obama’s words): a tax to solve a non-existent problem. Part of me hopes they will do it because it is such a blatent and blind overreach. Unfortunately, so much of the electorate has been brainwashed, they might think it was a good thing.
“Chu, a Nobel laureate in physics..”
He may be a Nobel laureate, but he shows very little common sense? Will he tax farting cows as is proposed in Denmark? What about the methane gas associated with the rotting process of vegetation in swamps? Has he heard of swamp gas?And how about the constant seepage from underground gas reservoirs? He should be forced to return his Nobel prize.
How about taxing more based on excessive usage?..Al Gore could probably fund Porkulus.
I thought Chu was intelligent. He seems to have fallen for Gore’s propaganda
without looking at it critically.
I thought the Energy Secretary’s job was to see that we have adequate supplies of energy. Instead, he’s proposing a tax on energy. I’ll say again, as long as “environmental” groups control Washington, we will have no energy development.
And, if this "Nobel laureate" is still buying the AGW crap, then he's not doing all that well in physics, either.
I have a better idea. Why not take 4 or maybe 8 years off and refrain from impairing your constituents discretionary income. There ain’t much of it left.
I’m sorry, but can someone tell me what this would look like? What is a carbon emission and who emits it, and how is it measured and taxed?
