Call to action: Conservative FReeper PAC?
Feb 12, 2009 | Jim Robinson

This may be a topic for our regional FReeper conventions coming up, but how many of you would be interested in forming an official conservative FReeper PAC for raising funds to help replace Dems and RINOs and to get conservatives elected?

With the votes and The People, we can win.

I would like to see more time towards voter accountability. We vote, but how do we know our vote went to where it was intended?

I’m in for money, time, or both.

If I may make a suggestion, get a paypal link up for recurring monthly donations.

Howdy everyone! I’m baack. To answer some questions, first, no regional FR meetings have been scheduled yet. I think there should be several regional meetings, culminating in a national convention in DC.

Where and when the meetings are held will be up to the members involved. Looking at where our members are located, I would think we should have regional meetings in at least Northern and Southern CA, possibly one in Seattle, two in Texas, perhaps Dallas and Houston, one or two in Florida, one in New York, One in Denver, one in Missouri, maybe one in Chicago. In fact, I’d like to see meetings anywhere we can get a group of a hundred or more FReepers together and then each group can send two to four (or more depending on number of members they represent) delegates to a national convention in DC.

Anyone who wants to can go to the DC convention and join the debates, but the official delegates will be the ones voting on issues brought before the convention.

If we form a PAC, it would be separate from FR. Again, anyone can become a member, but there should be certain requirements met to become voting members. As it would be a separate entity from FR, I may not have much say, but I’d like it to be a strictly conservative PAC. That is, 100% in defense of the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, free enterprise, capitalism, national sovereignty, traditional values, and individual rights, etc, including the rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness and in defense of the Bill of Rights including free speech, freedom of religion, rights to keep and bear arms, rights to self-defense, property rights, individual rights, federalism, limited government, self-government, etc.

There should be specific issues defined and prerequisites and qualifications set forth before any candidate receives support from the PAC. We’ll have to strictly follow all laws governing PACS, etc, but I would think a formula could be developed giving individual donors rights to vote (perhaps based on the amount of their contributions) on the rules of the PAC and to whom and how any PAC funds are disbursed and or any candidate is officially supported or opposed.

It depends on the model Jim wants to use. Manpower can often be more valuable than money. A model can be created that encourages member action, instead of professional companies to create signs, for example, members do this themselves from ideas the PAC presents (Protest Warrior example). Instead of buying a lot of advertising, have letter to the editor campaigns. Instead of TV advertising, work together with FReepers who are good with YouTubes and get the message out virally (Zo's for example) There are a lot of ways this can be done.

I think that there are many, many moderately wealthy conservatives out there that are prospective donors... they are distrustful of the RNC, but would gladly donate to a truly conservative grassroots organization, ESPECIALLY one whose aim was to replace the RINOs and liberals thast are laying waste to America.

I am one of them.

I would, but does it mean that I have to behave?

Seriously, a great idea. Let's get a strong, common conservative message and stick to it.

Yes! It would be great to contribute to a PAC that would help get 100% conservative candidates elected.

Or it may be that we can also hold local meetings anywhere we can get 25 or more members together. If possible, there can be one delegate per 25 members going to the DC convention. I’d like to see an effort to rebuild our local chapter efforts and have a chapter in each and every congressional district. I also think it would be a good idea to get local members elected to local Republican groups so conservatives can have more of a voice in local elections.

I am 30 minutes above Knoxville on the KY/TN border, and I’d be happy to attend some meetings and to donate a small amount of $$$. I can’t donate much, but will what I can. I am ready to take this country back, and will do whatever it takes. I think I can also recruit some others to help. Newspaper columnists, etc. I’ll hold a bake sale, flower/veggie plant sale, anything to help.

I have a young, very conservative and sharp nephew (20s) who is among a number of college students looking for a voice in the conservative movement, and way to offer new ideas and strategies. I’ve emailed him this thread.

Bert, ping me or email me letting me know what, and when, I can contribute.

Crappie, get in touch with your friends on another forum you frequent about this thread, and get busy on that article you emailed me about (LOL)!!!!

Grammy, let’s roll on this, and maybe we can combine a fundraising meeting with a fishing trip.

Well where in Missouri are you? Maybe we can co-ordinate a Freeper Convention for the region or just for Missouri? I’m in Kansas City and I know there are a few Freepers here in the city.

We will not be heeded until those that now marginalize us are afraid to do for fear that in their next election we will rund someone against them in both parties and that even if they survive it will be at great cost.

I think that the key is getting the other conservative groups to toe the line of resurgent conservativism along with us, rather than making it a pissing contest to see who can bring their own candidate to the dance. Our one goal should be keeping our eye upon what is best for America... period.

Cato and Heritage aren't weak, but they've reached their market saturation points because they market to conservatives rather than to the self-styled "moderates". Conservatives are going to remain conservative; to actually grow a movement we have to brand it into something that appeals to everyone without compromising our principles. Therein lies the crux... to get an unthinking majority to once again use its mind.

Girlangler, there is not a day that goes by that I haven’t thought of you and getting this article finished. My conscience is weighing heavy. I have about 800 words down and I want 2500.

I had a fire under my butt, then I think my pilot light went out LOL

>>we need to get as many conservative PACs as possible. What we really need is a conservative Super Group Coalition that will bring all of the thousands of little groups together.<<

That’s the key. Something like that would gain huge momentum!!

Yep, I agree, Heritage and Cato are marginalized.

I had mentioned Move America Forward because they are a grass roots organization.

And I reiterate, if no one else jumps to the head of the line, than FR PAC is the way to go.

And II, we need FReepers as yourself, with experience, to not let whichever organization takes the lead to become marginalized. Being in the D.C. area, I’ll help where I can.

We have a group of conservatives up here in Maine that want our two idiot senators thrown out on their asses.

Many liberals vote for Collins/Snowe because they see them as fifth columnists within the republican party. There are lots of moderates and many, many conservative Yankees in the northern and western parts of the state who don’t vote because they feel their votes don’t count. Light that fire, fund the right candidate, and Collins and Snowe are g-o-n-e.
