Pelosi frustrated by Senate [Spector, Snowe & Collins threaten to pull out. Kill Porkulus]
Politico ^ | 02/11/2009 | By GLENN THRUSH

Nancy Pelosi had heard enough, thank you very much, after two enraged House Democrats rose at Tuesday’s caucus meeting to bitterly denounce the Senate’s take-it-or-leave-it offer on the stimulus.

It wasn’t because Pelosi wasn’t ticked off herself — quite the opposite.

“At a certain point, after a couple of members had expressed themselves, she asked that future speakers not address that issue because it was reminding her how angry she was,” said Rep. Anthony D. Weiner (D-N.Y.), who was in the room.

When Pelosi emerged from behind closed doors a few minutes later to address the press, she wore the broadest possible smile on her face. But her words expressed the grimmest possible resolve, as she girded for a conference committee battle on the stimulus destined to yield, at best, partial victory.

“Usually you go to conference and split the difference between the two houses — that may not be the case here,” Pelosi said. “At these conferences, my experience has been that the White House has a seat at the table — that they weigh in.”

Both Obama and Pelosi are hoping to restore significant stimulus spending eliminated by the Senate, especially $21 billion in school construction and technology grants, $10.3 billion in COBRA insurance and $8.6 billion in new Medicaid coverage for the unemployed.

The Senate passed its $830 billion stimulus bill Tuesday — but it wouldn’t have passed at all without the support of three moderate Republicans and a conservative Democrat who helped the Democratic majority obtain the 60 votes necessary to stop a filibuster.

Majority Leader Harry Reid’s solution has created its own set of problems for the speaker. Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) and Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) all have publicly insisted that the measure emerge more or less unchanged...

Where is AARP? Get those people in The Villages in Florida to spread the word.

AARP is extreme left wing before it is anything else. They have a huge membership because for $10 membership you can get discounts on motels and much more when you travel.

Look at the crap they send out at election time on who and what to vote for. The brighter oldsters throw it away and figure it doesn't matter because they're saving lots of money to belong, but it does matter. AARP will not help you with this.

OTOH if you could get ahold of their mailing lists...

The money part of it is the least dangerous. The part where it effectively socializes medicine by instituting a Federal office to 2nd guess every doctor’s diagnosis and prescription and charge is far more damaging to the country, not to mention the 4 billions to ACORN to take control of all the federal elections in concert with a sympathetic Justice Department. The economy is already trashed with Bush’s $7 trillion load of caustic soda so the money is just piling on one more shovelful.

AARP supported Hillary’s health care boondoggle when she was president. I would never depend on AARP for anything.

I think Pryor, Tester, Dorgan, Lincoln, Nelson (NE), et al, are just lookin’ for a way to avail themselves of the famous, “I was for it before I voted against it” escape.

Besides the phone calls, we need to identify the Lobbyists who fund the rascals--and isolate the COMPANIES that fund the lobbyists with boycotts at the customer flank and shareholder suits at the stockholder flank.

And as we pray for their souls--we fight for our moral turf--with Alinsky's Rules--24/7 efforts to educate their neighbors of their depravity and blame.

Meanwhile we can and MUST divide and conquer the big urban/suburb communes that are Bolshevik/RINO support systems.

Strike The Root: First City Halls, THEN Washington!

Big City metro/urban areas are the support base for the Marxists and Useful Idiots at the State and Federal level. Break up the concentrated power centers and Conservatives will make huge gains in future elections everywhere!

The popular mood of economic dismay and anger at politicians tips the playing field strongly in our favor.
It will be a challenge now but we will never have a better opportunity than right now.

Tax-And-Spend Politicians face a lose-lose scenario: either (1) uphold the status quo, keeping Citizens furious so they don’t have to cut budgets and anger unions for campaign money and feet-on-the-street, or (2) cut budgets and taxes, making unions furious so they don’t face ousting by infuriated voters in regular or special elections (that we may help sponsor)

BIG CITY NEGATIVES:
Negative Economic Growth
Comparative Cost of Living
Excessive Property Taxes
Worst Schools despite the biggest per-student financing
Major Crime Rates/Unsafe communities
Drug-related burglaries and other crimes
Flagrant Panhandling, Prostitution, Perversion
Genuine Blight (not Kelo fraud and grand theft)
Graffiti & Vandalism
Excessive Business License Fees of many types
Excessive Local Tax Rates
High Insurance Costs

Since we’re fighting Marxism, Let’s Play…Reverse Class Warfare!
Private wage envy vs union/government jobs
Welfare outrages at expense of workers
“Blame The Democrats” for every ill and shill.

Don’t believe this for a moment. Pelosi would love us to stop calling the three traitors. We have to keep the pressure on them.

And considering that the bill theoretically installs obligations on each American worth the price of a new car, I would hope people scrutinize the salesman the same way they would at a dealership.

You obviously have not met Queen Nancy of Syria. Why not long ago, she declared peace in the Middle East.

Mere weeks mind you before Israel took out the Syrian nuclear warehouse.

I’m still holding out hope. There’s a sense of destruction in this bill that I can see coming to pass.

The storm clouds are rising.

The pressure from the public is building. All we have to do is give them (the Senate traitors) a reason.

I say we continue to hammer their offices and help them along.

You don’t need Republican votes, Nancy. If the bill is such a winner, then get your party together (both houses) and pass it already.

The Liberal/progressive Sheenan type moonbats are the key to democrats failure. We need the Pelosi's and Black Congressional Caucus types to go Chavez. The worst the stuff looks in their bills the easier it is to shoot them down. Call and email our luny liberal friends and ask them why Senate republicans (Don't call them RINOs, a give away) are writing the stimulus bill when us progressives (don't say socialists) won two elections. Demand that house democrats put all the welfare and liberal pork (call them important investments) back in the bill. And demand the abortion funding(call it reproductive options) be put back too, remind them Obama is a man who has never been pregnant.

Here's helpful links: Black Congressional Caucus and Contact Speaker Pelosi

Or Office of the Speaker (202) 225-0100

Looks like the pressure is getting to Spectre, Snowe and Collins. I hope the GOP Senate leadership threatened to remove all three of them from their committe posts if they don’t do the right thing.

It's not uncommon for a Senator to approve a limit on debate (vote AYE on cloture), while expressing opposition to the underlying bill. Specter does that OFTEN.
I'm wary of the exact nature of the so-called "opposition" that these three weasels intend to offer, should the bill deviate from what they wrote.

This time, I thought they were combining the cloture vote (at least 60) and the "real" vote (simple majority) into a single vote. But you are right, they are clearly not trustworthy. For example, they could claim that the changes made in conference are "not that bad."

The organization ranks behind only Consumer Reports and the American Red Cross as the most trusted large group that influences U.S. politics and business, a 2007 Harris Poll found.

Great link. All the proof anyone should need, but it has been going on so long, it shouldn’t be a secret.

In some ways the NRA offers more value for the buck. I’ll bet they wish they had 40 million members.

Disagree as Obama has invested in this pork bill’s passage. It’s a big deal for him.

Failure will further remove the veneer more than it already has. People are starting to realize first that the bill is garbage, second, that since the bill is garbage its backers smell just as bad all the way to the top.

It’s building.

And btw, Obama’s numbers are falling. You know that it is having a bad affect when the media starts citing his “old” polling numbers that were higher before porkulus stank up the place.

When it comes to opposition on matters this grave, never bring a RINO to a Tiananmen Tank fight.

We need these sworn public servants to lie down in front of that tank ideologically, just like our brave sworn troops throw themselves on enemy grenades to save the lives of the others and defend their homeland. It is the same principle.

And We The People must do the same at the grassroots.

Did not hear that about re-election. Would be surprised if that was said in public too.

But he’s put a lot of capital behind this. And much worse, he’s invested in his “hope” and “change” propaganda all for porkulus.

That may prove to be the biggest fallout regardless of the bill’s outcome. But should it blow up and go back to the starting line, it will be less cumbersome on a redo than the impact on Obama.

People will begin to see as some do now, the clothes have no Emperor.
