Excuse me if I’m wrong, but don’t we get a lot of petroleum products from Mexico.

Are drugs the only big money in the country?

It’s a pity that the border areas are so out of control. I think a joint US/Mexican offensive military action in Mexico against these drug lords in the best solution. UAVs would be pretty useful here I would think. I’m sure others will believe that simply allowing all of Mexico to migrate to America will work better though.

We might as well annex Mexico, it’s citizens are already here.

LoL! That's like asking O-usless to attack Acorn.

Now there's an idea. We can use the land so Obama can build row housing for them.

I said it would be the best solution, not the most likely.
But yeah. OTOH, Bush wouldn’t have done it either and he was a Texas Governor.

The problem is our environmental laws would apply, and it would shut down the oil and Gas, though not the coke.

Pyrite is not gold

Anecdotal: A recent break in at a copper mine in Butte MT. Thieves broke in, took a few pieces from a display case and office. They took a chunk of pyrite (overlooked or didn’t know of other valuable items to take).

Probably not the best thing to be reported in the news, but, on the other hand...
Perhaps thief school could use some stimulus money too.

Well, the drug cartels seem to be one of the few prosperous entities left. Banks, governments, businesses, etc. are in the tank. The cartels have guns, gold, money and territory.

The WOD has failed, and it has had some nasty side effects. End marijuana prohibition, and they'll be deprived of the bulk their profits.

Kidnapping, gunbattle leaves 21 dead south of Juarez

El Paso Times, Feb 10, 2009

Twenty-one people were killed early Tuesday between Villa Ahumada and Samalayuca following the reported kidnappings of nine people and shootouts between Mexican soldiers and the kidnappers, officials with the Joint Chihuahua Operation said. Police also reported the deaths of four others whose bodies were found Tuesday in the Juárez area, for a total of 25 people killed, the most to date in less than 24 hours.

Mexico doesn’t need Texas’ help. They’re collapsing under the weight of their own corruption and ineptitude.

Not a bad idea. California doesn’t have the money to draft anything. Guess we’ll have to carve out our plans with a long thin stick and beach sand and hope the wind and waves don’t wash it away when the time comes.

If we take a minute and look....California’s situation is in the lead for the rest of the nation.

That doesn’t give much of a description of any plan. I’m beginning to wonder what the heck our government is waiting for. I think the military could do a lot of good in Mexico. Maybe when units come home from Iraq they can go south and take care of business. But I’m sure obama will want to talk to the druglords first.

There would be so much collateral damage to non-combatants, mostly families of the criminals, that the whining libs would never stand for it.
