Specter crushed on all sides by stimulus vote
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review PAPolitics ^ | February 10, 2009 | Salena Zito

Arlen Specter mistakenly thought that his moderate compromise on the stimulus bill would be more warmly received.

He was wrong.

And he has a whole lot of high-level statements and primary threats as a result of the vote that backs his mistake.

The chair of the Pennsylvania State Republican Party Rob Gleason expressed

Bush intervened and gave us Specter. Keep up the pressure on Specter and he might see the light on the vote for the reconciled bill.

We can never quit.

We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.- Churchill.

We need to have the same attitude. Let us button up Obama within the first month of his presidency. Mark him as the socialist and extremist he is. If things get worse, pin the blame solidly on him over and over again.

Specter can be turned. Maybe even the Evil Twins as well.

He’s not toast. Because just like last time, the union democrats will change their party affiliation to vote for Specter in the primary to defeat any conservative.

The Pennsylvania State Republican Party better let this traitor have it unmercifully! Kick his rino ass out of the party right now or give him so much hell he'll want to leave A.S.A.P. I can't believe what this prick and those two political scumhags, Snowe and Collins have done to our county!

Let the ass whoopin's begin! The GOP and every single republican in this country ought to relentlessly bring a living nightmare to these three turncoats for the rest of their tenure, or they can leave office NOW!

Specter may decide to retire. He underestimated the impact of his choice.

-- PA voters even returned the excrable Murtha to office. --

That would be PA Democrat voters. Specter might as well change party affiliation right now, because my guess is that the number of self-identified Republicans and conservatives who supported him last time around are not going to support him this time around. Murtha got his votes from Democrats, and that's where Specter is going to have to find his, if he wants to win.

Even if, mirabile dictu, he should change his vote and vote against it in the end, I still hope he gets creamed in the primary in 2010. He is beneath contempt.

What is really funny is that I received a cash request for McQueegs re-election campaign via e-mail. My response was “You honestly have to be kidding, right?”

Pat Toomey, Specter’s former rival in the 2004 primary race who narrowly lost to him, said that he was pretty confident that he could win and that Specter was actually “more vulnerable now than he was in 2004.”

IS TOOMEY RUNNING????

A couple things. Perhaps Steele will change the primary rules, Acorn is on the verge of getting billions of dollars, Emanuel is in charge of redistricting the census maps, Obozo thinks he’s King of America. I had another, but lost that. We’re screwed. Lock and load.

To all of my friends in the Keystone State (and you know who you are) please start proceedings to get a decent candidate in the Republican Primary for the Senate. I think Specter is up for reelection in 2010. He MUST be defeated. Good luck. I will contribute whatever I can legally. Good luck again from Kalifornia.

Conservatives in PA have been trying to oust Specter in the primaries for more than a decade. Toomey almost did it in 2004. It’s just darn hard to overcome the social (so-called) conservatives in the Phila. and Pitts. suburbs where Specter runs really strong and where the big money comes in for him.

When control of the Senate was in the balance, I held my nose and voted for Specter in the general.

No more. He’s toast. Corbett (AG), Toomey or another strong conservative will win the primary. They may have to run against Rendell, though, and that will be an uphill battle. Rendell’s facing some big fiscal problems in the state, though, and his support may be on the decline.

Naw, it was PA voters. Each and every Republican voter in PA could have taken action to convince at least one Democrat to say home.

Did I say convince?

Yup, that's what I said.

Couldn't mistake that for another word.

Next time DO IT!
