Specter crushed on all sides by stimulus vote
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review PAPolitics ^ | February 10, 2009 | Salena Zito

Arlen Specter mistakenly thought that his moderate compromise on the stimulus bill would be more warmly received.

He was wrong.

And he has a whole lot of high-level statements and primary threats as a result of the vote that backs his mistake.

The chair of the Pennsylvania State Republican Party Rob Gleason expressed

When I lived in Lewisburg I tried writing and calling Specter’s office 7 times to get assistance with a V.A. problem. I never heard one word from him even though I was promised during the phone calls that my issue would be investigated. I was totally and absolutely ignored. That was enough to prove to me his ‘care for constituents’.

I am not extolling the virtues of Rick Santorum, however, he is not the Democrat in Republican clothing that Specter is and for that matter he isn’t the complete waste that Casey is.

He’s not toast. Because just like last time, the union democrats will change their party affiliation to vote for Specter in the primary to defeat any conservative.

Maybe the Pennsylvania State Republican Party needs to change its rules so it could excommunicate Specter. That way he would be ineligible to run in the Republican Primary.

As a matter of fact, it might not be a bad idea for all states to adopt that rule. It'd be a nice hammer to hold over every RINO's head. It also worked for the Speaker of the House in the Tennessee Legislature. (Good Job Tennessee!!!!)

(1) it was a godawful year for Republicans (2) he faced the toughest possible Rat opponent: a Casey (3) oddly, he had a flailing campaign without a coherent narrative (very odd because Santorum, besides a good conservative, had always been in touch, a salt-of-the-earth guy).

But the real reason he lost is (4) He (along with Bush) supported Specter over Toomey in the primary.

Agreed, absolutely.

We also need a lawsuit strategy that would stay much of this stuff. Watch out for the Census and Rahm. That is a major power grab as blue states are losing population.

Obama & Co. are in it to win. We must be relentless and persevering too. Despair is their weapon and our weakness. We cannot give up our Republic, at least no easily.

They've overstepped and we need to hammer it home that this disaster is a result not of the free market, but of a Dem. Congress and its socialist meddling.

Mistakes were made ~ now you learn about the alternative ~ first the lash, and then the stocks.

Obama's got his eye on you!

Doesn't matter how anyone dealt with Holder. Remember, Holder's instinct is to immediately start a coverup should he have the slightest hint that someone in the White House is involved.

We've seen it before. You'll see it again.

That's when we act.

Specter isn’t a republican, now or ever. I hope he rots in hell in the afterlife!
