So where do we go now? (vanity)

So where do we as true conservatives go from here? Obviously, there is a communist takeover of this country occurring right here and now now. Would Alaska be far enough away that we could escape this tyranny? I'm 33 years old and I feel completely helpless. This is not the country I once knew. How else do we fight this communist oppression?

Yes, but they won’t know that until we start starving them. They think we’ll just happily continue to feed their sorry, lying a$$es while they spit on us, our military and our leaders.

Their lack of hosts would not be their driving motivation, though. Some don’t even acknowledge that they ARE parasites, citing some stat on % tax dollars returned to blue states vs red states. States don’t earn money or pay taxes - individuals do, and the top earners don’t vote democRat.

You do not escape tyranny, you defeat it. The colonists did not escape tyranny even when they came over here. They had to defeat it to finally be free of its grasp.
Prepare. Stand and fight when the time comes.

This has got to backfire on the Dems. It's got to. That's the stuff! Reagan was optimistic amid the carnage of 1964, and I'm staying optimistic today. Why? Liberalism just doesn't work and the Messiah's programs won't work. I was amazed the Republicans, and some Dems, united against Porkulus. They didn't even pick off McCain, the mother of all compromisers.
The American people put up with nine years of Roosevelt doing nothing to get the economy out of depression, passively accepting it was all Hoover's fault. But we have a vastly different and less patient country today. The economy will be the Messiah's Iraq.

“It took 4 years of that idiot Carter to get our Reagan.”
I want to believe that too, but back then, Americans as a whole at least had an understanding of the issues at the time. Plus, the media, though biased, was not in the tank for the dems as they are today.
I think the mind-numbed ‘bots who make up today’s majority of voters have yet to be bitten by the clue bug. They’re so hopelessly in lust for that POS in the White House they’re too blind to see the unraveling of the American fabric that’s taking place.

Anyone have an idea of what happens now? A tentative schedule? Do they conference with the House? Do we have a few days before it is signed?

Cboldt says: Roughly ...
* House and Senate meet in conference committee (GOP could block the naming of conferees, but won't)
* A conference report emerges from the conference committee - probably in 1-3 days
* Each chamber takes up the conference committee report, usually one chamber goes first in case there are amendments to the conference report
* After both chambers pass identical language, the bill is enrolled, endorsed, and presented to the president
Syncro says:
It goes to the house so they can add back in the pork that was deleted, and they will sneak in even more.
The GOP congress critters have the power to delay and force the liberals to some concessions, but they choose no to.
2. Dicsuss options: FR ON line work; & then to the public:
"Rally for Our Republic / Vigil for the USA"
3. Most people sounds like they have given up on Porky. Need an assessment, organiztion & plans, & then action.
I've been ON----Line & have to log out & rest. Maybe back on line tonight / or morning.. ?

Rep. Walt Minnick (D-ID) decided to reverse engineer the Obama-Pelosi-Reid Porkulus Bill to see if he could find anything worth rescuing. In doing so, Minnick devised a stimulus plan that limits itself to real stimulus, rather than bloating itself into an omnibus pork package. It costs only $170 billion, and self-terminates when the economy recovers:

The economy will be the Messiah's Iraq. Now, wait a minute...I resemble that analogy. That's my baby you're talking about. :)
Iraq is a resounding success. Obama will be a miserable failure on the scale of the Titanic.

Iraq is a resounding success. I couldn't agree more, that is unless The Messiah manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
What I meant is that I think the economy will be the event that drives down The One's approval ratings, as the relentless media pounding over Iraq drove down Bush's.

>> and I find even on Free Republic that many here can’t comprehend the idea of government not doing certain functions
>> What is the response herre if someone says that government schools should be phased out? What if someone suggests that we should phase out driver’s licenses? Drug prescriptions? Etc.
That’s like saying fat people can not comprehend not eating. That’s extreme - eating in moderation is healthier than not eating at all.
Not all government programs on the federal or local level are antithetical to liberty at the root. That’s not to say, however, that liberal bureaucrats haven’t expanded the scope and authority of the programs to an abusive level.
Certainly, one needs food to survive, opposed to a driver’s license which is ultimately a device used to track and control behavior. But should we also abandon the programs that support things like law enforcement to attain the ideal conservative or libertarian state? I don’t think so.

What I meant is that I think the economy will be the event that drives down The One's approval ratings, as the relentless media pounding over Iraq drove down Bush's. I agree and he certainly isn't wasting any time in his attempts to destroy what was already a shaky economy. His urgency in ramming this garbage down our throats has exposed his agenda to a lot of people who were asleep and didn't see it during the election.
I think the American people are more resilient than many realize and I believe we'll survive this. Obama's tax & spend Waterloo will be a millstone around the Democrats' necks. I'm very curious to see what happens in 2010.

Keep pushing your elected officials on local, state and federal levels. Obama/Dems will fail and we need strong conservatives ready to lead when they get their turn. Consider joining something in your town, if it is just the water board or HOA.
We need to educate the yoots about what conservatism is/means.... If you live near a community college or major university, go put fliers on vehicles. Encourage any true conservative elected officials etc you know to go on campus and speak.
We need our own ACORN:)
