Specter, Snowe, Collins Anger GOP Base - (Freepers make the news!)

“Arlen Specter is DONE,” wrote a blogger named steelfish on the FreeRepublic Web site. “He won his last primary by less than 1 percent against a real conservative of Pat Toomey. And only because the President Bush came to PA and campaigned for him. He is DONE.”

Specter is up for re-election in 2010. Washington Republican strategists tell Newsmax this weekend that Specter's defection has sealed the deal: he will face a primary for the GOP nomination.

“Any questions?”

I saw that yesterday. So did others. Like I said, it would be a real shame if FR were determined to be some sort of conspiracy because of what a few people seem compelled to say.In the meantime, shall we assume you’re simply shooting your mouth off?

“Pennsylvania is a tough state.”

I think all the states are getting tough. I live in Indiana. We went blue for the first time. The problem is the increasing number of people on the dole.

There must be some sort of pay for play going on at some level or there was the implied threat of BIG reductions in federal government spending in their State to buy their vote!

Central coastal Maine needs Bath Iron Works. It is a great shipyard and maybe the only shipyard in the country that has NEVER delivered a ship late or over budget! I am still hearing rumors that BIW was mentioned and the Snowe and Collin votes fell in line.

I need help with this! We must get to the bottom of this.

I don’t believe it is possible under our system of laws to deprive anyone of voluntary declaration of political party membership.

It is possible under our laws. It's just not possible the way the GOP, and every other party in America except for America's Independent Party, is organized.

We've given a lot of thought to this matter in the last year or so. That's why we organized AIP the way we did, as a closed association, making full use of our First Amendment rights of free association.

To participate in AIP, folks have to sign a Personal Affiliation Agreement, one that promises strict adherence to America's founding principles and loyalty to the constitutional oath. If someone breaches that pledge, they're out. Period.

We reached the conclusion that the way these other parties are organized guaranteed that at some point they would become uninhabitable for principled Americans, in the same way that your house would become uninhabitable if you put a sign out front that said, "Everyone welcome, come right in." You might be okay for awhile, but once the word got around the squatters would drive you out.

These 3 RINOs will vote for the bill because they've calculated a political advantage for doing so.

“The bolting senators cited soaring unemployment numbers,

How do you say NAFTA. - It’s good for America. All the jobs left.

How do you say Sub-prime loans? It was for Blacks only.

How do you say Bank Bail-out? First bail out AIG, an insurance company. They hold Congress’s retirement fund.

How do you bankrupt a country? Steal billions from the treasury for pork. 7% of the current trillion $ bill is for crisis management. 93% for PORK.

If Stalin were to come back and register as a Democrat, there’s not a thing anyone could do about it.

You couldn't do anything about it if he decided to register as a Republican, either.

Exactly, thank you!

Anyone can register to “vote” republican, but the RNC choses who they will and won’t allow to run under the RNC banner as a candidate.

Any “voter” can register however they want. But the RNC will decide who the RNC will run as a candidate under the RNC banner.

Don’t confuse “voters” with “candidates.”

Any “voter” can register republican. Believe me, Williams knows he was booted from the GOP.

Probably so. With Obamalamadingdong's plans to cut military spending by at least 10%, you are probably on to something regarding Bath Iron Works. A good portion of their business is with the Feds.....

Considering the fact that the RNC's support has gone heavily to liberals in the party over the last decade, that's hardly encouraging. Especially in light of the fact that the "conservative" they've now chosen to lead the RNC is a co-founder with Christie Todd Whitman of the "Republican Leadership Council," whose purpose is to forward pro-abort, pro-homosexual agenda, anti-gun, anti-liberty, leftists.

You think McCain is “red?” Not in TN he isn’t... He’s purple, at best. He’s no more red than Collin, Snowe and Specter.

TN was the ONLY state to become MORE Republican as the rest of the nation became more Democrat.

Nothing against Okie’s... My wife is an Okie.

But as every other state either remained red or became blue in 2008, TN, which was controlled by the DNC since the civil war, became red at the state level...

That’s significant!

The RNC can choose whom to support as a candidate with contributions, training, etc. (and in my experience they generally ignore conservatives unless that candidate can raise several hundred thousand dollars unaided).

However, there was a case here in WV in 2004 where someone not known politically was encouraged under the "outreach" program to file for the office of State Senator, but it was then found after the deadline for filing that he was serving time in prison. The state party begged and pleaded with him to withdraw his name before the end of the period for withdrawing candidacy (so that the state party could have filled the vacancy on the ballot). But he refused and since the party is powerless to cast people out of the party or even deprive them of their candidacy, we were stuck with all the negative publicity that year of "the GOP" running a felon for high office.

And of course since the Democrats have total control of the election process, we can;t even get bills passed to rectify that possibility.

Specter probably didn’t even read the bill, as the health care provisions would mean that neither he nor Ted Kennedy would have received treatment for their cancers. At their ages, treatment would not be “cost effective”.

Mass pretty much already has socialized health care. When Teddy got sick he fled Mass for Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. What's the matter Ted? Can't eat your own cooking? Mass General not good enough for you? Regardless of the legislation just passed, there will always be special rules for people like Ted.
